Job Overview:
The Technical Officer for Global Health security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security (GHS) will play a crucial role in supporting the Meeting Targets and Maintaining Epidemic Control (EpiC) project in Nigeria. This position is responsible for providing technical and operational support to various states, including Akwa Ibom, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Lagos, Rivers, and Plateau, focusing on contact tracing and active case search for priority diseases. The officer will work closely with state epidemiologists and disease surveillance officers to coordinate surveillance activities and ensure alignment with national public health strategies. The role also involves capacity building at the state level, enhancing the ability of local health systems to respond to emerging infectious diseases, and contributing to the overall improvement of public health systems in Nigeria.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Technical Officer will be responsible for a wide range of duties including collaborating with state epidemiologists to strengthen surveillance systems, supporting data collection and analysis on infectious diseases, providing technical assistance to stakeholders, facilitating coordination between various health agencies, developing training initiatives for surveillance officers, monitoring implementation of surveillance activities, supporting outbreak investigations, and promoting adherence to infection prevention measures. The officer will also establish and maintain productive relationships with partners and stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and collaboration across various health sectors.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree or its international equivalent in fields such as Civil Society, Communication, Health, or related areas. A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in managing data collection and providing technical assistance is required. Experience in disease surveillance activities, particularly in emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases, is essential. Familiarity with Nigeria's public health systems and international donor organizations is also necessary, along with proficiency in data analysis tools and strong communication skills.

Educational Background:
The position requires a Bachelor's Degree or its equivalent in relevant fields such as Health, Communication, or Social Marketing. Candidates should have a solid understanding of public health principles and disease surveillance frameworks, particularly in the context of Nigeria's health systems.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least 4 years of relevant experience in public health, particularly in managing data collection and technical assistance related to disease surveillance. Experience in working with international donor organizations and familiarity with Nigerian public health systems is highly desirable.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory, and knowledge of local languages may be advantageous for effective communication within the communities served.
