Job Overview: The Senior Livelihood and Economic Inclusion Associate will play a crucial role in supporting UNHCR's mission in Poland by enhancing the economic inclusion of refugees and asylum seekers. This position involves working under the supervision of the Assistant Livelihood and Economic Inclusion Officer and entails a variety of responsibilities aimed at fostering partnerships with stakeholders, monitoring partner activities, providing technical and analytical support, and contributing to design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design and implementation. The associate will engage with local communities, NGOs, and government authorities to develop innovative approaches to economic inclusion, ensuring that the needs of refugees are met effectively. The role requires a proactive approach to identifying operational gaps and proposing evidence-based recommendations to improve program quality and impact.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Senior Livelihood and Economic Inclusion Associate include:
Supporting partnerships with relevant stakeholders to enhance economic inclusion for refugees.
Assisting in strengthening and coordinating partnerships with government authorities, private-sector actors, development institutions, UN agencies, NGOs, and academia.
Monitoring partner activities through field missions and regular communication.
Supporting the management of Small Grants Agreements with community-based organizations.
Compiling and reviewing information related to legal and policy frameworks affecting refugees' rights to work and access to services.
Contributing to the design and implementation of socioeconomic surveys and labor market assessments.
Preparing draft analytical inputs for strategic planning and advocacy efforts.
Assisting in the implementation of livelihoods activities and identifying operational gaps.
Participating in field missions to monitor program implementation and collect evidence for improvement. 1
Supporting the organization of meetings, workshops, and training sessions for stakeholders. 1
Engaging with local communities and NGOs to gather insights and foster collaborations. 1
Contributing to the preparation of field reports and recommendations for enhancing refugee economic inclusion.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a strong understanding of operations relevant to UNHCR, including technical capabilities or knowledge transferable to UNHCR procedures. Candidates should demonstrate discretion, political sensitivity, and the ability to liaise with various actors, especially in senior positions. A high degree of autonomy, personal initiative, and resourcefulness are essential, along with the ability to manage information objectively and confidentially. Candidates should also exhibit professionalism, integrity, teamwork, and respect for diversity, as well as a commitment to continuous learning and effective planning and organizing skills.
Educational Background: Candidates should possess a relevant degree in social sciences, economics, international relations, or a related field. Advanced degrees or specialized training in areas related to livelihoods, economic inclusion, or refugee studies would be advantageous. A strong academic background that demonstrates analytical and research skills is preferred.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have several years of relevant experience in livelihoods programming, economic inclusion, or refugee assistance. Experience working with governmental and non-governmental organizations, as well as familiarity with the socio-economic context of refugees in Poland, is highly desirable. Proven experience in project management, partnership development, and stakeholder engagement is essential for this role.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, while proficiency in Polish or Ukrainian is highly desirable. Knowledge of additional languages relevant to the refugee population in Poland would be considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This position is a national UN Volunteer assignment, and the selected candidate will be responsible for arranging their own housing and living essentials. The monthly living allowance is PLN 11,335.32, with an entry lump sum of USD 40
Medical and life insurance will be provided through Cigna Private Insurance. Leave entitlements include 2.5 days of annual leave accrued per calendar month, 30 days of certified sick leave, 7 days of uncertified sick leave, and 10 days of learning leave per consecutive 12 months. Maternity leave is 16 weeks, and paternity leave is 10 days. The position may be extended subject to the availability of funds.
