Job Overview:
The Junior Programme Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the operational, administrative, and coordination aspects of various FAO projects and programmes in Bangladesh. This position is essential for ensuring the effective implementation of initiatives under the Technical Cooperation Programme (TCP), Trust Fund (TF), and Regular Programme (RP) budgets. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining accurate records, tracking budgets, and facilitating communication among stakeholders. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to coordinate various activities, including meetings, workshops, and training sessions, to ensure smooth project delivery. The Junior Programme Assistant will work closely with project teams, government institutions, and other stakeholders to support the overall objectives of FAO in Bangladesh.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Junior Programme Assistant include assisting in the formulation of project documents, concept notes, and proposals in line with FAO procedures. The incumbent will support the implementation and management of national, regional, and global FAO projects by preparing and monitoring budgets, reviewing transactions, and managing daily project operations. This includes resolving operational issues, maintaining official records of project documentation, and ensuring effective liaison with key stakeholders and government agencies. The role also involves coordinating and organizing missions, meetings, workshops, and training sessions, providing backstopping support as needed, and undertaking additional tasks assigned by the FAO Representative or Assistant FAO Representative (Programme).

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in Agricultural Sciences, Economics, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field. Additionally, at least one year of relevant experience in project formulation, operations, finance, or administration is required, preferably with UN agencies or international organizations. A working knowledge of English at Level C is mandatory, and candidates must be nationals of Bangladesh.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a university degree in a relevant field such as Agricultural Sciences, Economics, Business Administration, or Finance. The FAO emphasizes the importance of higher educational qualifications obtained from accredited institutions recognized in the World Higher Education Database (WHED).

Experience:
The position requires at least one year of relevant experience in project formulation, operations, finance, or administration. Experience working with UN agencies, international organizations, or development projects is preferred, as it provides valuable insights into the operational and administrative frameworks necessary for effective project management.

Languages:
A working knowledge of English (Level C) is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly if they are relevant to the stakeholders and communities served by FAO in Bangladesh.
