Job Overview:
The Data Analyst position is integral to the FAO's project GCP/UKR/021/EC, which aims to enhance data analytics and reporting within the agricultural sector in Ukraine. The role involves supporting the design and implementation of data management and reporting solutions that will facilitate better decision-making for farmers, government institutions, and development partners. The Data Analyst will focus on developing a robust reporting architecture, automating data processing, and ensuring the integration of datasets to improve transparency and efficiency. This position requires a strong analytical mindset and the ability to work with both spatial and non-spatial datasets, particularly in relation to the GSA module of the State Agrarian Register (SAR). The successful candidate will work remotely, adhering to the operational hours of the FAO Ukraine office, and will report to the FAO UA Head of Office and the Project Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Data Analyst will be responsible for a variety of tasks including:
  • Designing and implementing a reporting architecture that incorporates geospatial outputs from the GSA module.
  • Developing and maintaining analytical queries and reports, optimizing algorithms for efficient data retrieval and processing.
  • Configuring templates and scripts for automated report generation, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Validating and processing incoming data to ensure completeness and accuracy, including spatial datasets.
  • Designing and managing online surveys, analyzing results, and integrating findings with the SAR/GSA analytical framework.
  • Developing templates for mass email distribution and monitoring engagement metrics.
  • Performing other related tasks as assigned by project management.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Agriculture, or a related field. They should have at least three years of work experience in data analysis, preferably within a UN or NGO context. A strong understanding of data management and validation processes is essential, along with experience in database management and reporting software. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to design automated reports and dashboards, and have knowledge of survey design and data collection methodologies. Attention to detail and the ability to work under tight deadlines are critical for this role.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a university degree in a relevant field such as Data Science, Statistics, Economics, or Agriculture. This foundational knowledge is crucial for understanding the complexities of data analysis and management within the agricultural sector.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of three years of relevant work experience in data analysis. Candidates with experience in the UN or NGO sectors will be given preference, as they will be familiar with the operational frameworks and challenges faced in humanitarian and development contexts. The ability to work with both spatial and non-spatial datasets is particularly important.

Languages:
Fluency in Russian and Ukrainian is mandatory, with a working knowledge of English being advantageous. Candidates should possess at least a Level C proficiency in Russian and Ukrainian, and a Level B or higher in English, to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This position is remote, allowing for flexibility in work location. The role is expected to be full-time, aligning with the operational hours of the FAO Ukraine office. Candidates must be nationals of Ukraine or residents with a valid work permit. The FAO emphasizes core competencies such as results focus, teamwork, communication, and building effective relationships, which are essential for success in this role. Familiarity with EU CAP/IACS requirements and geospatial reporting standards is considered an advantage.
