Job Overview: The Online Volunteer position is designed to provide graphic design support for Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) materials. The role involves collaborating closely with the communications team and the Technical Officer to create visually engaging and effective communication tools tailored to specific target audiences. The primary focus of this position is to develop a risk communication package addressing diarrheal diseases, which will include creating visual tiles that reflect various cultural festivals and backgrounds. The volunteer will adapt existing materials while ensuring that the designs are culturally appropriate and aligned with WHO's corporate design guidelines. This role is crucial in enhancing public health messaging and ensuring that communities receive accurate and timely information during health crises.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the Technical Officer and communications team to understand the objectives and requirements for the RCCE materials.
Design and create two sets of six visual tiles, each representing different cultural festivals, ensuring that the visuals are culturally relevant and engaging.
Develop a dosing table (one-pager) for healthcare workers (HCWs) as part of the communication package.
Adapt existing festival-themed materials to ensure design consistency and visual harmony across all tiles.
Ensure that all designs adhere to WHO's corporate design guidelines and maintain a high standard of visual quality.
Provide timely updates and drafts to the team for feedback and revisions.
Participate in meetings and discussions to align on project goals and timelines.
Strong understanding of visual communication principles and cultural sensitivity in design.
Ability to create visually appealing and effective communication materials tailored to diverse audiences.
Experience in working on public health communication or similar projects is an advantage.
Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
Educational Background: A background in graphic design, visual communication, public health, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should have relevant coursework or training that demonstrates their design skills and understanding of effective communication strategies.
Experience: Previous experience in graphic design, particularly in the context of public health or community engagement, is highly desirable. The ideal candidate should have a portfolio showcasing their design work and ability to create culturally relevant materials.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of additional languages relevant to the cultural groups represented in the visual tiles (e.g., Mandarin, Tagalog, Khmer, etc.) would be considered an asset.
