Job Overview:
The intern" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Communications Intern position is a full-time internship located in Vienna, Austria, within the Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Section (CPCJS) of the UNODC. The intern will be involved in supporting the daily communications work of the Section, which aims to provide comprehensive responses to crime prevention and criminal justice challenges. The intern will work under the supervision of professional staff and will engage in various tasks that contribute to the Section's communication strategies. This includes tracking and analyzing information, drafting content for web and social media, assisting in communication campaigns, and maintaining the Section's online presence. The internship is designed to provide hands-on experience in a professional environment while contributing to the UN's mission of promoting justice and reducing crime.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including: tracking, researching, and analyzing information on assigned topics; drafting web stories and social media posts; assisting with the implementation of communication campaigns; maintaining and updating the Section’s website; developing graphics for social media; creating monthly social media reports; organizing and archiving communication materials; assisting in planning and coordinating events and meetings; providing logistical support; preparing background documents, presentations, speeches, and talking points; documenting events and compiling post-event summaries and reports; and performing other duties as assigned. This role is integral to the Section's efforts to communicate effectively and engage with various stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for this internship, applicants must meet specific criteria: they must be enrolled in or have recently completed a graduate program (second university degree or equivalent) or be in the final year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). While professional work experience is not required, a field of study closely related to the internship is necessary. Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in standard software applications, particularly MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, and MS Teams, with knowledge of design tools like Canva or Adobe being advantageous. A keen interest in the work of the United Nations and a commitment to its ideals are essential, along with the ability to interact successfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Educational Background:
Applicants must have a relevant educational background, which includes being a student in the final year of a bachelor’s degree program, or having completed a bachelor’s, master’s, or Ph.D. program. Proof of enrollment or graduation must be attached to the application. The educational focus should ideally align with the responsibilities of the internship, emphasizing communication, international relations, or a related field.

Experience:
While no prior professional work experience is required for this internship, applicants should have relevant academic experience or coursework that demonstrates their ability to perform the duties outlined in the internship description. Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written English is required for this internship, as English is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
