Job Overview:
The Responsible Data Analyst I will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of CRS’s Responsible Data Policy and ensuring compliance with data protection practices across various country programs and departments. This position is designed for individuals who are fluent in both English and Spanish and have a solid background in data protection. The Analyst will work closely with country teams, regional advisors, and global stakeholders to translate policy into actionable practices, assess data protection risks, and build capacity in responsible data stewardship. The role requires effective communication and coordination with various levels of CRS business, including MEAL, ICT4D, Global Risk and Compliance, and legal teams, to ensure that data protection initiatives align with the agency's values and standards. The Analyst will also support the rollout of privacy management systems like OneTrust, ensuring that privacy principles are embedded into operations and that regulatory compliance is maintained.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Analyst I will be responsible for maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant data protection regulations and providing guidance to country programs and project teams. They will serve as the primary advisor for data protection compliance, supporting the implementation of the agency’s Responsible Data Policy. Key responsibilities include translating global policy into actionable practices, promoting privacy by design principles, overseeing personal data processing activities, identifying and escalating data protection risks, coordinating Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs), reviewing contracts for compliance, operationalizing the OneTrust Privacy Management platform, and leading training sessions on responsible data stewardship. The Analyst will also build zonal capacity in privacy principles and secure data handling, ensuring that all operations adhere to compliance expectations.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in data protection, information systems, or a related field, along with a minimum of 5 years of experience in data protection, privacy, or compliance roles. They should have demonstrated experience in supporting data protection programs and ensuring compliance with privacy requirements. Hands-on experience in handling data protection incidents and conducting privacy impact assessments is essential. Knowledge of global data protection laws and standards, as well as data lifecycle management practices, is required. Familiarity with privacy-enhancing technologies and data protection considerations specific to the humanitarian sector is also necessary.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree in data protection, information systems, or a related field. A Master’s degree in IT, computer science, programming, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory. Candidates should have a strong foundation in data protection principles and practices, as well as relevant coursework or certifications that demonstrate their expertise in the field.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in data protection, privacy, or compliance roles. Candidates should have a proven track record of supporting data protection initiatives and ensuring compliance with organizational privacy requirements. Experience in handling data protection incidents and conducting privacy impact assessments is crucial, as is familiarity with data subject rights under privacy regulations. Experience in international or humanitarian organizations is preferred, particularly in roles that involve data protection and privacy management.

Languages:
Fluency in both English and Spanish is mandatory for this position, as the Analyst will be working with diverse teams and stakeholders across the Americas. Proficiency in French is considered a plus, as it may enhance communication with additional partners and stakeholders in the region.

Additional Notes:
This position is remote but candidates must be based on the U.S. East Coast (Eastern Time Zone) to ensure effective time zone alignment. The role may require travel of up to 10%.
