Job Overview: The position of Roster - Emerging Technologies for Digital Transformation Consultant for Asia and the Pacific is crucial for the ITU's mission to enhance digital transformation across the region. The consultant will be responsible for designing and conducting studies that assess the integration of emerging technologies into national development agendas. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of telecommunications and ICT innovations, as well as the ability to develop strategies that facilitate the adoption of technologies such as artificial intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), and 5G. The consultant will work closely with member countries, particularly those facing challenges in digital transformation, to provide tailored recommendations and support for policy development. The overarching goal is to empower nations to leverage technology for sustainable development and to ensure that digital transformation initiatives are inclusive and equitable.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will undertake a variety of duties, including:
Designing and leading studies to identify existing national, subregional, and regional policy practices regarding emerging technologies.
Assessing the integration of these technologies into national development agendas and identifying gaps and challenges in their adoption.
Developing national strategies and policies to promote the deployment of emerging technologies.
Providing country-specific recommendations and roadmaps for implementing strategies that accelerate digital transformation.
Finalizing reports and presentations on studies, strategies, and implementation plans.
Conducting stakeholder discussions, trainings, and workshops to disseminate knowledge and resources.
Submitting methodologies for studies and assessments, with the possibility of additional deliverables based on project needs.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in information and communication technology (ICT), sciences, mathematics, engineering, data science, computer science, computer engineering, economics, information science, or a related field in emerging technologies. A diploma from a reputed college of advanced education that is equivalent to a university degree in one of the aforementioned fields is also acceptable. An advanced degree or doctorate is considered an advantage. Additionally, candidates should have expertise in research and analysis, drafting and report presentation, and a comprehensive understanding of policy and regulatory frameworks related to emerging technologies.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a university degree in relevant fields such as ICT, engineering, or data science.
