Job Posting Organization:

Job Overview:
The Anti-corruption and Gender Consultant will work under the supervision of the Chief of CEB and the Anti-corruption Regional Adviser. The consultant's primary responsibilities include conducting comprehensive research on gender audits and methodologies, producing drafts for methodologies, and contributing to expert meetings aimed at refining these methodologies. The consultant will also support the implementation of these methodologies in pilot countries, ensuring that they are practical and effective in addressing gender biases within judicial systems. This role is crucial for developing a structured approach to gender audits in the judiciary, which currently lacks an internationally validated methodology.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be responsible for several key deliverables: conducting research on existing gender audits and methodologies, producing drafts for the methodology for gender audits in the judiciary, organizing and facilitating expert meetings, and contributing to the selection of pilot countries for methodology implementation. The consultant will also provide support during the pilot phase, offering suggestions for improvement based on practical experiences and lessons learned. This role requires a deep understanding of gender issues within the judiciary and the ability to engage with various stakeholders to ensure the methodology is comprehensive and effective.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in relevant fields such as international relations, social science, law, political science, or criminology. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted. A minimum of ten years of professional experience in the justice sector or related fields is required, along with experience in gender-related issues and judicial reform. Strong drafting and research skills are essential, as well as familiarity with the United Nations Convention against Corruption and international standards for judicial integrity and gender equality.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in international relations, social science, law, political science, or criminology is required. A first-level university degree in similar fields, combined with two additional years of qualifying experience, may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of ten years of professional work experience in the justice sector, particularly in judicial strengthening programming or related issues. Experience working on gender-related issues, especially in connection with the judiciary, is essential. Candidates should also have experience in multicultural environments and different judicial systems, demonstrating the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.

Languages:
Fluency in oral and written English is required for this position, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. A working knowledge of Spanish is desirable, and knowledge of another official United Nations language is considered an advantage.
