Job Overview:
The Field Associate position is a critical role within UNHCR, primarily responsible for supporting field activities and ensuring effective communication and coordination with various stakeholders. The incumbent will work under the supervision of a (Senior) Field Officer or Head of Office, performing a variety of functions that are essential for the successful implementation of UNHCR's programs. This role requires a proactive approach to monitoring the situation in the area of responsibility (AoR), collecting relevant data, and reporting findings to the supervisor. The Field Associate will also engage with local authorities, implementing partners, and the refugee community to assess needs, provide assistance, and facilitate the delivery of services. Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Field Associate include monitoring the situation in the AoR, collecting and reporting data relevant to UNHCR's operations, and overseeing the implementation of programs, including the delivery of assistance items and infrastructure monitoring. The Field Associate will conduct regular site visits to assess the needs of persons of concern, particularly vulnerable groups, and maintain regular contact with local authorities and implementing partners. The role also involves acting as an interpreter when necessary, contributing to the preparation of status and progress reports, and assisting with administrative tasks such as report preparation and support during field missions. Additionally, the Field Associate will inform and act on reports concerning persons of concern, assist in the reception and registration of individuals seeking assistance, negotiate with local authorities and partners, and represent UNHCR in monitoring projects. The position requires the ability to identify and manage risks while seeking opportunities that impact objectives in the area of responsibility.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of three years of relevant experience with a High School Diploma, or two years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. Essential qualifications include strong communication skills, the ability to draft and document effectively, and proficiency in multi-stakeholder communications with partners, government, and community. Familiarity with program management cycles and reporting standards is also essential. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate IT literacy and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for the Field Associate position includes a High School Diploma as a minimum, with a preference for candidates holding a Bachelor’s degree in fields such as Business Administration, Law, or Political Science. Relevant certifications in these areas are also considered beneficial. Candidates with additional training or completion of UNHCR learning programs will have an advantage in the selection process.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have a minimum of three years of relevant experience for those with a High School Diploma, or two years of relevant experience for those with a Bachelor’s degree. Experience in UNHCR field operations or similar humanitarian contexts is highly desirable, as it demonstrates familiarity with the challenges and dynamics of working in refugee and displacement settings. Candidates should also have a proven track record of effective communication and collaboration with diverse stakeholders.

Languages:
For this position, knowledge of English is mandatory, along with proficiency in the UN working language of the duty station, which is Arabic in Jordan. Familiarity with local languages is considered an asset, as it enhances communication with the refugee community and local authorities. Candidates who can demonstrate multilingual capabilities will be viewed favorably during the selection process.

This position is classified under the UNOPS LICA6 category and is not remote. The target start date for the role is April 1, 2026, and candidates may be required to undergo a written test as part of the selection process.
