It is the only international initiative focused on integrated climate and clean air solutions aimed at reducing the rate of near-term warming. The CCAC emphasizes fast action to mitigate emissions of short-lived climate pollutants (SLCPs) such as methane, black carbon, HFCs, and tropospheric ozone. The CCAC Secretariat is hosted by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) at the Economy Division in Paris, and as of October 2023, it also provides secretariat services to the Global Methane Pledge, which aims to reduce methane emissions globally. The specialist will provide guidance to operationalize the Farmers Initiative for Resilient and Sustainable Transformations (FIRST) and will coordinate with the Agriculture Expert to develop work plans and tailored approaches. The role is essential for advancing rice methane mitigation actions and enhancing political ambition in the agricultural sector regarding super pollutant emissions. The specialist will be responsible for coordinating outreach to countries, organizing workshops, and supporting the development of funding proposals for the CCAC's initiatives.

  • Identify and review a CCAC-TEAP report on nitrous oxide or methane mitigation from agriculture, focusing on digital solutions for nitrogen use efficiency.
