Job Overview: The position of Regular Consultant at WFP focuses on enhancing private sector fundraising and partnerships in the Latin America and Caribbean region. The consultant will play a crucial role in researching, prospecting, pitching, and converting new partners to support WFP's mission of achieving zero hunger. This role is pivotal in diversifying the private sector portfolio by securing multi-million dollar partnerships through corporate agreements and high-value donor engagement. The consultant will collaborate closely with the Regional Private Sector Lead to develop innovative strategies for individual giving and high-value donor partnerships. The position requires a proactive, results-oriented professional who can thrive in a fast-paced environment, adapt to changing circumstances, and work effectively as part of a team to achieve ambitious fundraising goals.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be responsible for a variety of tasks aimed at supporting WFP's private sector fundraising strategy. Key responsibilities include:
Business Development: Identifying and researching new funding opportunities across various sectors, including corporates, foundations, civil society, and individuals. Conducting outreach and leveraging internal networks to initiate contact and drive negotiations. Developing tailored value propositions, proposals, and pitch materials to engage different donor types. Supporting visibility and fundraising events to attract new partners. Engaging donors during emergencies to mobilize rapid support for WFP. Leading partnership negotiations and ensuring compliance with HQ processes.
Country Office Guidance: Providing technical guidance to 13 country offices on business development strategies. Sharing best practices and supporting country teams in pursuing private sector opportunities. Organizing internal trainings to enhance business development capacity.
Operational Support: Maintaining and updating Salesforce accounts to track engagement and fundraising efforts. Monitoring progress against key performance indicators and contributing to regular reporting. Preparing briefing materials for senior leadership ahead of donor meetings. Developing knowledge hubs with toolkits and training materials to support private sector engagement.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in Political Science, International Development, Development Economics, Marketing, Communications, or a related field. An advanced university degree or professional certification is considered a plus. Additionally, candidates should have at least six years of demonstrated experience in partnership development, business development, marketing, or business-to-business sales roles, with a solid understanding of how to secure and manage partnerships, particularly in individual giving and high-value channels. Familiarity with WFP’s zero hunger mandate and operations is essential, along with previous networking experience within WFP or other UN agencies, NGOs, or government partners.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a university degree in a relevant field such as Political Science, International Development, Development Economics, Marketing, or Communications. An advanced degree or professional certification in these areas is advantageous and may enhance a candidate's application.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of six years of relevant experience in account management, sales, partnership development, or business development. Candidates should have a proven track record in creating and managing fundraising partnerships, demonstrating strong business development expertise, and a solid understanding of the fundraising landscape, particularly in the context of humanitarian work.
Languages: Fluency in both spoken and written Spanish (level C knowledge) and English is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.
Additional Notes: This position is a Regular Consultant role with a contract duration of 11 months. It is a full-time position based in Panama City, Panama.
