Job Overview:
The P-3 Information Analyst will be responsible for maintaining a comprehensive understanding of the political, security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security, humanitarian, and human rights situations in the mission area and its neighboring regions. This role involves conducting trend analysis and predictive analysis to inform senior leadership's decision-making processes. The analyst will work closely with colleagues to gather and verify information from multiple sources, including UN agencies, national authorities, and NGOs. The position requires the production of timely reports and briefings that contribute to situational awareness and policy development. The analyst will also be responsible for maintaining JMAC tools and coordinating with other mission components to ensure effective information management. This role is critical in supporting crisis management procedures and fostering effective relationships with various stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties of the P-3 Information Analyst include:
  • Maintaining an understanding of the protection of civilians (PoC), political, security, humanitarian, and human rights situations in the mission area;
  • Conducting trend analysis and mid-to-long term predictive analysis;
  • Collaborating with colleagues to gather and verify information;
  • Producing accurate and timely reports, analysis, and briefings for senior leaders;
  • Preparing and disseminating various forms of information, including incident reports and risk assessments;
  • Maintaining and coordinating JMAC tools, such as Priority Information Requirements;
  • Providing briefings to the Mission Leadership Team and representing JMAC in meetings;
  • Supporting the UN Crisis Management Team as required;
  • Undertaking JMAC analysis as directed by the Chief JMAC; 1
  • Managing the JMAC intelligence data management application; 1
  • Liaising with the Beni Head of Office and other components to support information gathering and analysis activities.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong analytical skills and experience in information collection and management. Excellent drafting and editing skills are essential, along with the ability to produce cogent reports. Candidates should demonstrate proven analytical ability and experience in building information networks in complex environments. The ability to integrate various perspectives into analytical products and coordinate with multiple actors is crucial. Candidates should also show professionalism, commitment to gender perspectives, and the ability to work in a multicultural environment.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) in Political Science, International Relations, Law, or a related field is required. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.

Experience:
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in political or international affairs, intelligence or information analysis, security operations, or related fields is required. Candidates must have at least three years of experience in an analytical team, conducting data collection and analysis, including geospatial analysis. Experience in supervising military, police, and national staff in a multicultural team is also required, along with experience in conflict and network analysis in post-conflict operations.

Languages:
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, candidates must demonstrate proficiency in both languages at UN Level III for reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
