Job Overview:
The Associate Infrastructure Engineer position is a critical role within the World Bank Group's Information Technology Solutions (ITS) Vice Presidency. This role focuses on the design, development, implementation, and operation of enterprise storage and backup automation infrastructure across both on-premises and cloud environments, including AWS, Azure, and OCI. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating automated pipelines that facilitate the provisioning, protection, recovery, replication, and lifecycle management of data. This position requires a blend of storage and backup engineering expertise along with programming skills to ensure that the infrastructure is secure, scalable, and efficient. The role is integral to supporting the World Bank Group's mission by ensuring that the foundational IT infrastructure is robust and capable of meeting the evolving needs of the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Associate Infrastructure Engineer will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including:
  • Designing and implementing automated pipelines for storage and backup solutions across on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Collaborating with teams to create standardized, secure, and scalable storage solutions using both traditional and cloud-native services.
  • Utilizing programming languages such as Python, Bash, PowerShell, or Go to develop automation scripts, APIs, and validation tests.
  • Implementing infrastructure as code (IaC) practices using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar technologies.
  • Administering and operating Cohesity backup environments, ensuring effective policy design and recovery orchestration.
  • Maintaining and optimizing Pure Storage arrays, including performance tuning and replication management.
  • Monitoring infrastructure performance and diagnosing issues, while implementing observability tools for proactive management.
  • Designing and testing disaster recovery plans, conducting exercises, and ensuring compliance with recovery objectives.
  • Handling escalations from the Network Operations Center (NOC) and resolving incidents through effective communication and documentation. 1
  • Leading implementations and migrations, coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience or a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in storage and backup engineering. Hands-on expertise with cloud storage and data protection services, particularly in AWS, Azure, and OCI, is essential. Additionally, candidates should have experience with Cohesity administration, Pure Storage management, and infrastructure automation practices. Strong programming skills in Python and familiarity with at least one other language are required, along with a solid understanding of Unix/Linux systems and networking concepts.

Educational Background:
The educational requirements for this position include a Master's degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 5 years of experience or a Bachelor's degree with at least 7 years of relevant experience. The focus should be on information technology, computer science, or a related discipline that provides a strong foundation for the technical skills required in this role.

Experience:
Candidates should have a significant level of experience, specifically in storage and backup engineering, with a minimum of 5 years for those holding a Master's degree or 7 years for those with a Bachelor's degree. This experience should include hands-on work with cloud environments and infrastructure automation, as well as a proven track record of managing complex IT projects and systems.

Languages:
The mandatory language for this position is English, which is essential for communication within the organization and with stakeholders.
