Job Overview:
As an Observability Engineer, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the reliability and performance of the EBRD's platforms. Your primary responsibility will be to design and implement intelligent monitoring solutions that span across hybrid and cloud-native environments. This position requires a strong focus on transforming telemetry data into actionable insights, thereby improving system performance and reliability. You will be tasked with building scalable observability platforms that utilize various tools such as SolarWinds, Prometheus, Azure Monitor, and Grafana. Your work will enable proactive operations and data-driven decision-making, ensuring that the organization can respond effectively to incidents and optimize its systems continuously. Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Design, automate, and optimize enterprise observability platforms for logging, metrics, and tracing.
  • Build and enhance monitoring solutions using tools such as SolarWinds Observability, ManageEngine App Manager, Prometheus, Grafana, and other open-source tools.
  • Consolidate and analyze application and system logs at scale, including implementing distributed tracing.
  • Integrate observability tooling with ITSM platforms to enhance incident response and operational workflows.
  • Automate deployment and configuration of monitoring infrastructure using tools like Terraform and Ansible.
  • Develop scripts using Python, Bash, or PowerShell to streamline operational tasks.
  • Implement telemetry collection using protocols such as SNMP, WMI, SSH, APIs, and traps.
  • Support observability for containerized and cloud-native workloads.
  • Promote consistent telemetry standards and interoperability across platforms.

Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in designing, implementing, and supporting both commercial and open-source monitoring solutions.
  • Strong understanding of performance monitoring and troubleshooting across applications and infrastructure.
  • Solid grasp of software development principles and infrastructure management.
  • Experience with Azure monitoring services and container observability.
  • Hands-on scripting and automation experience.
  • Knowledge of telemetry standards and best practices.
  • Intermediate to advanced certification in observability, cloud, or infrastructure technologies.
  • ITIL Foundation or basic service management knowledge.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is typically required for this position. Advanced degrees or certifications in relevant areas such as cloud computing, observability, or infrastructure management may be preferred and can enhance a candidate's qualifications.

Experience:
Candidates should have a proven track record of experience in observability engineering or related fields, with a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant work experience. This experience should include hands-on involvement with monitoring solutions and a deep understanding of performance engineering principles.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly those relevant to the EBRD's member countries, would be considered an asset but is not required.

This position is a fixed-term contract lasting for 3 years. The EBRD promotes a flexible working environment, expecting employees to work in the office 50% of the time.
