Job Overview: As a Platform Engineer at EBRD, you will play a crucial role in leading the transformation of cloud-native architectures at scale. Your primary responsibilities will include designing, developing, and supporting hyperscale Azure architectures and containerized microservices. You will be instrumental in delivering secure, highly available, and resilient solutions through the implementation of CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), observability tools, and configuration management. This position requires a proactive approach to re-architecting legacy applications and orchestrating cloud-native services, ensuring that you make a significant impact from the ground up. You will have the opportunity to consult across various squads, embed DevOps best practices, and troubleshoot a wide range of issues, from infrastructure quirks to application performance. Your collaboration with partners will help shape operational excellence and guide the organization towards a smarter, more automated future. Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Platform Engineer include but are not limited to:
Designing, implementing, and supporting hyperscale cloud architectures, particularly on Microsoft Azure.
Developing and maintaining containerized solutions using orchestration tools.
Consulting with other squads on DevOps methodologies and best practices.
Setting up and managing CI/CD pipelines, including production deployments.
Utilizing configuration management tools and package/dependency management solutions.
Implementing observability tooling, both commercial and open-source.
Provisioning platforms through Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.
Managing on-premise infrastructure and applying DevOps practices to on-premise workloads.
Migrating workloads between on-premise and hyperscale cloud environments. 1
Re-architecting applications to function effectively in hyperscale cloud environments. 1
Collaborating with Managed Service Providers and Professional Service Partners to enhance service delivery.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess intermediate to advanced technology certifications in their area of specialization, along with an entry-level service management certification such as ITIL Foundation. A robust understanding of software development principles, infrastructure management, and performance monitoring approaches is essential. Additionally, candidates should have experience in troubleshooting application issues and managing infrastructure effectively. The ability to work collaboratively with Managed Service Providers and Professional Service Partners is also required.
Educational Background: A relevant educational background in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is essential for this position. Candidates should have a strong foundation in cloud computing, software development, and systems architecture, supported by appropriate certifications that validate their expertise in these areas.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have substantial experience in designing, implementing, and supporting hyperscale cloud architectures, particularly in Microsoft Azure. Experience with containerized solutions and orchestration tools is crucial, along with a proven track record of setting up CI/CD pipelines and managing production deployments. Familiarity with configuration management and observability tools is also necessary, as is experience in migrating workloads between on-premise and cloud environments.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization. Knowledge of additional languages relevant to the EBRD member countries would be considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This position is a fixed-term contract lasting three years. The EBRD promotes a flexible working environment, expecting employees to work in the office 50% of the time.
