Job Overview: The Training Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the planning and implementation of ASYCUDA activities, which are vital for enhancing the customs processes in Afghanistan. The incumbent will conduct training workshops aimed at micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) on various topics, including generating business ideas, starting and improving businesses, and understanding international commercial terms. The role requires a proactive approach to research, data analysis, and the development of training materials, ensuring that the training provided is relevant and effective. The Training Assistant will also assist in monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of the training programs and contribute to the overall success of the ASYCUDA initiative.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Training Assistant will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including:
Assisting in the planning and implementation of ASYCUDA activities and processes.
Conducting training workshops for MSMEs on various topics related to business development and international trade.
Researching, compiling, and analyzing data related to ASYCUDA programs and projects.
Coordinating program/project planning and preparation, ensuring timely submission of project documents.
Monitoring and evaluating programs/projects, tracking data related to outputs and resources utilized.
Developing training materials and presentations in consultation with experts.
Collaborating with project managers on performance reporting and updating policy manuals.
Drafting correspondence related to program/project administration. 1
Providing guidance and training to new or junior staff. 1
Assisting with data collection and analysis for reporting purposes. 1
Performing other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. A first-level university degree or higher is preferred and can reduce the required work experience. The position requires a minimum of 7 years of experience in program or project administration, technical cooperation, or a related area. Candidates with a first-level university degree can qualify with 5 years of relevant experience. Experience in data analytics and working in an automated customs environment is desirable, as is experience with UN or similar international organizations.
Educational Background: The minimum educational requirement for this position is a high school diploma or equivalent. However, candidates with a first-level university degree or higher are encouraged to apply, as this can reduce the required years of experience and enhance their candidacy.
Experience: The role requires a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in program or project administration, technical cooperation, or a related area. Candidates with a first-level university degree can qualify with 5 years of experience. Additionally, experience in data analytics or related fields is desirable, as well as experience in an automated customs environment and supporting UN technical cooperation programs related to customs and international trade digitization.
Languages: English is the mandatory working language for this position, with a required proficiency level of UN Level II in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Dari and Pashto are considered desirable languages, also requiring a proficiency level of UN Level II for reading, writing, and listening, and UN Level I for speaking.
Additional Notes: This position is temporarily available for three months. If the selected candidate is a staff member from the United Nations Secretariat, the selection will be administered as a temporary assignment.
