Job Overview:
The National Consultant: Peacebuilding Project Evaluator position is designed to evaluate peacebuilding projects in South Sudan. The consultant will be responsible for assessing the effectiveness, efficiency, and impact of the peacebuilding initiatives implemented by UNDP. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of the local context, including the political, social, and economic factors that influence peacebuilding efforts. The consultant will work closely with UNDP staff and local stakeholders to gather data, analyze findings, and provide actionable recommendations. The evaluation process will involve both qualitative and quantitative methods, ensuring a thorough assessment of the projects' outcomes and sustainability. The consultant is expected to deliver a detailed report summarizing the evaluation results and suggesting improvements for future initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the National Consultant include: conducting a thorough evaluation of peacebuilding projects; developing evaluation frameworks and methodologies; collecting and analyzing data from various sources; engaging with stakeholders, including local communities, government officials, and UNDP staff; preparing comprehensive evaluation reports with findings and recommendations; presenting evaluation results to UNDP and stakeholders; ensuring that the evaluation process adheres to UNDP's guidelines and standards; and providing feedback and insights to enhance the effectiveness of future peacebuilding initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong background in peacebuilding, evaluation, or a related field. A proven track record of conducting evaluations in complex environments is essential. The consultant should have excellent analytical skills, the ability to work independently, and strong communication skills. Familiarity with UNDP's policies and procedures is an advantage. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate cultural sensitivity and the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Educational Background:
A master's degree in social sciences, international relations, development studies, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or certifications in evaluation methodologies or peacebuilding will be considered an asset. Candidates should have a solid understanding of the theoretical and practical aspects of peacebuilding and conflict resolution.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in project evaluation, particularly in the context of peacebuilding or conflict resolution. Experience working in South Sudan or similar contexts is highly desirable. Candidates should have a demonstrated ability to manage complex evaluations and produce high-quality reports within tight deadlines.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of local languages spoken in South Sudan is considered an asset, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and enhance the evaluation process.

Additional Notes:
The contract duration for this position is 50 working days. This is a consultancy role, and the consultant will work on a part-time basis. The position is open to both national and international candidates. Compensation will be based on UNDP's consultancy rates, and additional benefits may be provided as per UNDP policies.
