Job Overview:
The Associate Director, Finance and Grants is a pivotal role within the FHI 360 Nepal Country Office, responsible for the comprehensive oversight of financial management, contracts, and grants associated with the office and its projects. This position requires a strategic approach to ensure that all financial control and performance objectives are met in alignment with FHI 360's standards and the requirements set forth by its funding agencies. The Associate Director will work closely with the Country Representative, Project Directors, and Technical Directors to provide essential support in budget forecasting, expenditure tracking, analysis" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">financial analysis, and grant and contract management. The role also emphasizes adherence to both global and local policies, ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements as well as funders' guidelines.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Associate Director will oversee all financial management areas, including accounting, payments, and reporting systems for the FHI 360 Nepal Country Office. Key responsibilities include directing and managing the preparation of the annual budget, monitoring financial controls and measurements for projects, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting, and maintaining adequate financial resources for program operations. The role also involves reviewing and designing workflow systems to enhance efficiency, coordinating with regional and headquarters offices to implement effective budget and accounting procedures, and clarifying issues arising from audits. Additionally, the Associate Director will oversee the development and review of sub-agreements and contracts, maintain communication with funders, provide technical assistance to implementing partners, and represent FHI 360 at external functions. The position requires conducting site visits to partners, performing internal audits, and facilitating external audits as necessary.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in finance, accounting, commerce, business administration, or a related field, along with five to seven years of progressive leadership experience in finance and grants management for donor-funded programs. Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree in the same fields with seven to ten years of relevant experience is acceptable. Prior experience in senior management roles within related organizations, particularly in international NGOs managing complex projects, is essential. Proven experience in program development, grant making, and management with international organizations is required, along with the ability to work collaboratively in teams and manage multiple tasks effectively in a virtual environment. Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills are necessary, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office tools. Excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and Nepali are mandatory.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master’s degree in finance, accounting, commerce, business administration, or a related field. A Bachelor’s degree in the same fields is also acceptable if accompanied by significant relevant experience. The emphasis is on obtaining a strong foundation in financial principles and practices, as well as an understanding of the complexities involved in managing donor-funded programs.

Experience:
The position requires a substantial level of experience, specifically five to seven years in leadership roles related to finance and grants management for donor-funded programs. Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree should have seven to ten years of relevant experience. Experience in senior management positions within international NGOs, particularly those managing large and complex projects, is crucial. Familiarity with the rules and regulations of various funders, including US and UK governments, is also important.

Languages:
Fluency in both English and Nepali is mandatory for this position, with excellent oral and written communication skills required. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, but the primary focus is on the ability to communicate effectively in the two specified languages.
