The role involves planning, implementing, and monitoring paid digital marketing initiatives, as well as coordinating communication activities for designated initiatives. The consultant will support UNEP’s digital presence and impact through effective audience engagement and data-driven performance optimization across digital platforms. This position requires collaboration with internal UNEP teams and external service providers to ensure the effective delivery of digital marketing and communication activities, thereby enhancing the reach and impact of UNEP's work.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent will be responsible for planning, executing, and managing paid digital marketing strategies that align with UNEP’s communication objectives. This includes tracking and analyzing the performance of digital marketing and communication activities, preparing analytical reports, and providing recommendations for future initiatives. The specialist will coordinate with internal UNEP teams and external service providers to support the effective delivery of digital marketing and communication activities. Additionally, the role involves coordinating the planning and implementation of communication activities for assigned programmes or initiatives, such as Young Champions of the Earth, ensuring strategic alignment, consistency of messaging, and effective delivery across digital and multimedia platforms.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (master’s or equivalent) in communications, marketing, or a related field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree. At least two years of relevant professional experience in digital marketing and digital communications is required, including management of paid digital campaigns and multi-channel communication initiatives. Proven experience in coordinating communication activities for programmes or initiatives while working with multiple stakeholders is essential. Strong analytical skills, with experience using digital analytics tools to monitor performance and inform strategy, are also required. Excellent written and visual communication skills, with strong attention to detail, are necessary for this role.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree (master’s or equivalent) in communications, marketing, or a related field is required for this position. In cases where candidates possess a first-level university degree, they must have two additional years of qualifying experience to be considered equivalent to an advanced degree.

Experience:
The position requires at least two years of relevant professional experience in digital marketing and digital communications. This includes experience in managing paid digital campaigns and multi-channel communication initiatives. Candidates should also have proven experience in coordinating communication activities for various programmes or initiatives, demonstrating the ability to work with multiple stakeholders effectively.

Languages:
Fluency in written and spoken English is required for this position, as English is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of another official UN language, such as French, is desirable and can enhance a candidate's profile.
