Job Overview: The consultant will play a crucial role in enhancing the business development ecosystem for entrepreneurship development. This position involves contributing to a workplan that aims to strengthen the capacity of entrepreneurs, particularly those managing early-stage businesses or those looking to scale and access new markets. The consultant will engage in a three-day brainstorming exercise and meetings with key stakeholders in Saudi Arabia, collaborating closely with UNCTAD to ensure that the capacity-building activities align with the needs of the entrepreneurs. The overarching goal is to foster entrepreneurship and support the growth of competitive micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in line with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The consultant will also be involved in the design and delivery of workshops focused on smart logistics, leveraging technology to enhance business operations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Participate in a three-day brainstorming exercise with stakeholders in Saudi Arabia to develop a plan for capacity-building activities for entrepreneurs.
Collaborate with UNCTAD and other stakeholders to ensure alignment of capacity-building initiatives with the needs of early-stage businesses.
Contribute to the design and delivery of workshops aimed at enhancing the skills of entrepreneurs in smart logistics.
Engage with national business development centres to facilitate the implementation of the Empretec program.
Support the development of a strengthened business development ecosystem for entrepreneurship.
Provide insights and recommendations based on the latest trends in technology and entrepreneurship.
A minimum of 5 years of work experience in entrepreneurship and IT systems is required.
Experience in technology-based platforms, data management, and business development in the logistics sector is desirable.
Proven experience in designing and delivering workshops for entrepreneurs, particularly in the area of smart logistics, is also desirable.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Science, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Business Administration, or a closely related discipline. This educational background is essential to ensure that the consultant has the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to effectively contribute to the entrepreneurship development initiatives.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, particularly in the fields of entrepreneurship and IT systems.
