Job Overview: The Nutrition Officer plays a crucial role in supporting the preparation, planning, and implementation of nutrition programs/projects. This position is integral to enhancing the nutritional status of mothers, infants, and children in Venezuela, contributing to national development efforts. The officer will conduct situation analyses, research development trends, and provide technical and operational support throughout all stages of programming processes. The role requires collaboration with colleagues and partners to address operational issues, monitor program resources, and ensure compliance with organizational standards. The Nutrition Officer will also engage in capacity building initiatives and promote innovative approaches to achieve sustainable program results, ultimately aiming to improve social equity in the country.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Support program development and planning by conducting situation analyses and updating program sector information.
Research and report on development trends to enhance program management and efficiency.
Contribute to the establishment of sectoral program goals and strategies through analysis of nutrition needs.
Provide technical and operational support throughout programming processes, ensuring compliance with organizational processes.
Collaborate with colleagues and partners to address operational issues and provide solutions.
Monitor and report on the use of program resources, ensuring compliance with approved allocations and standards.
Conduct regular field visits and surveys to assess program progress and provide technical support.
Build and sustain partnerships with government counterparts and stakeholders to facilitate program implementation.
Draft communication materials for advocacy and fundraising efforts. 1
Identify and share lessons learned for knowledge development and capacity building.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a university degree in fields such as nutrition, public health, nutritional epidemiology, global health, or health sciences. A minimum of two years of professional experience in nutrition, maternal and child health, or public health is required. Additional experience in nutrition program development within a UN agency is considered an asset.
