Job Overview: The National Consultant_Marginalized Community Healthcare Researcher position is focused on developing gender-affirming hormone guidelines and localizing the Gender-Q questionnaire. The consultant will be responsible for conducting research, analyzing data, and providing recommendations that align with best practices in gender-affirming healthcare. The assignment is expected to span from February 2026 to June 2026, encompassing a total of 90 working days. The consultant will work closely with UNDP and other stakeholders to ensure that the guidelines developed are comprehensive and effective in meeting the needs of the target population.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the National Consultant_Marginalized Community Healthcare Researcher include:
Conducting thorough research on existing gender-affirming hormone guidelines and the Gender-Q questionnaire.
Engaging with stakeholders, including healthcare providers and community members, to gather insights and feedback.
Developing a comprehensive set of gender-affirming hormone guidelines tailored to the local context.
Localizing the Gender-Q questionnaire to ensure it is relevant and accessible to the target population.
Analyzing data collected from research and stakeholder engagement to inform the guidelines.
Preparing detailed reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to UNDP and other relevant parties.
Collaborating with UNDP teams to ensure alignment with broader health initiatives and policies.
Providing ongoing support and consultation throughout the assignment period to address any emerging issues or questions.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for this position include:
Proven experience in healthcare research, particularly in marginalized communities.
Familiarity with gender-affirming healthcare practices and policies.
Excellent analytical and writing skills, with the ability to produce high-quality reports.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
Educational Background: Candidates should possess at least a Master's degree in public health, social sciences, or a related field. A PhD or equivalent experience in a relevant area will be considered an asset. Additional certifications or training in gender studies or LGBT health issues will also be beneficial.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in healthcare research, particularly focusing on marginalized communities. Experience working with LGBT populations and knowledge of gender-affirming healthcare practices are essential. Previous experience with UN agencies or similar organizations will be an advantage.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Proficiency in Mandarin or other local languages is highly desirable, as it will facilitate better communication with local stakeholders and communities.
Additional Notes: This position is classified as an individual contractor role, and the assignment is home-based in China. The contract duration is from February 2026 to June 2026, with a total of 90 working days expected. The consultant will be compensated according to UNDP's procurement guidelines.
