Job Overview:
This position involves delivering consultancy services aimed at strengthening the capacities of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in the area of Business and Human Rights (BHR). The consultant will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies that enhance the ability of CSOs to engage with business entities on human rights issues. The role requires a deep understanding of both business practices and human rights frameworks, as well as the ability to facilitate training and workshops for CSOs. The consultant will work closely with UNDP and other stakeholders to ensure that the objectives of the consultancy are met effectively and efficiently. The assignment is deliverable-based, meaning that the consultant will be expected to produce specific outputs that contribute to the overall goals of the project.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct a comprehensive assessment of the current capacities of CSOs in relation to Business and Human Rights.
  • Develop tailored training programs and materials that address the identified gaps in knowledge and skills.
  • Facilitate workshops and training sessions for CSO staff and stakeholders to enhance their understanding of BHR principles and practices.
  • Collaborate with UNDP and other partners to ensure alignment of training content with international standards and best practices.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the training programs and make necessary adjustments based on feedback.
  • Provide ongoing support and guidance to CSOs as they implement BHR initiatives.
  • Prepare detailed reports on the progress of the consultancy, including recommendations for future actions.
  • Engage with business entities to promote dialogue and collaboration on human rights issues.

Required Qualifications:
  • Proven expertise in Business and Human Rights, with a strong understanding of relevant international frameworks and standards.
  • Experience working with Civil Society Organizations, particularly in capacity building and training.
  • Strong facilitation and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of the local context in Turkey and the specific challenges faced by CSOs in relation to BHR.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Proficiency in project management and reporting.

Educational Background:
A Master's degree in a relevant field such as Human Rights, International Relations, Business Administration, or a related discipline is required. Additional certifications or training in Business and Human Rights will be considered an asset.

Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the field of Business and Human Rights, with a focus on capacity building for Civil Society Organizations. Experience in conducting assessments and developing training programs is essential. Previous work with UN agencies or similar organizations is highly desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in Turkish and English is mandatory. Knowledge of additional languages will be considered an advantage, particularly if they are relevant to the local context.

Additional Notes:
This position is for an individual contractor and is expected to be a full-time engagement for the duration of the consultancy. The contract duration will be specified based on the deliverables agreed upon. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. The consultant may be required to travel within Turkey as part of the assignment.
