Job Overview:
The position of National IC for Gender Dimensions of Business and Human Rights (BHR) and CSO Capacity Development involves providing consultancy services that are deliverable-based. The consultant will focus on integrating gender dimensions into business practices and human rights frameworks, particularly in relation to civil society organizations (CSOs). The role requires a deep understanding of gender issues within the context of business and human rights, and the ability to develop capacity-building initiatives for CSOs. The consultant will be expected to engage with various stakeholders, including government entities, private sector actors, and civil society, to promote gender equality and human rights in business operations. This position is crucial for advancing the UNDP's mission of fostering inclusive and sustainable development by ensuring that gender considerations are embedded in business practices and human rights policies.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:
  • Conduct a comprehensive analysis of the current state of gender dimensions in business and human rights within the local context.
  • Develop tailored training programs and workshops for CSOs to enhance their capacity in advocating for gender-sensitive business practices.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to create guidelines and best practices for integrating gender considerations into business operations.
  • Facilitate discussions and forums that bring together businesses, CSOs, and government representatives to promote dialogue on gender and human rights issues.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of capacity-building initiatives and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Prepare detailed reports and documentation of findings, training sessions, and stakeholder engagements.
  • Ensure compliance with UNDP policies and procedures throughout the consultancy process.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess the following qualifications:
  • Proven expertise in gender studies, human rights, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of the intersection between business practices and gender issues.
  • Experience working with civil society organizations and knowledge of their operational challenges.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders effectively.
  • Familiarity with UNDP's mission and objectives, particularly in relation to gender equality and human rights.

Educational Background:
A minimum of a Master's degree in Gender Studies, Human Rights, Social Sciences, or a related field is required. Additional certifications or training in business ethics or corporate social responsibility will be considered an asset.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of relevant professional experience in gender analysis, human rights advocacy, or capacity development for civil society organizations. Experience working with international organizations or UN agencies is highly desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Proficiency in Turkish is also required, as the role involves working within the local context. Knowledge of additional languages will be considered an advantage.

Additional Notes:
This consultancy position is expected to be part-time and project-based, with a contract duration that will be specified upon selection. The consultant will work remotely but may be required to attend meetings or workshops in Turkey as needed. Compensation will be based on the consultant's experience and the scope of work agreed upon in the contract.
