Job Overview: The Team Leader – Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (MNCH), Nutrition, and Global Healthsecurity" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security (GHS) Strategic Information (SI) is a pivotal role within EpiC Nepal, responsible for overseeing the Strategic Information (SI) component of the program. This position entails leading the Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) efforts for project activities, managing Integrated Health InformationManagement Systems (IHIMS), and ensuring effective data collection and analysis. The Team Leader will work closely with various units within EpiC Nepal and provide technical assistance to implementing partner agencies, the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), and other stakeholders. The role requires a strategic mindset to develop and implement Performance Monitoring & Evaluation Plans (PMEP) that align with project goals and ensure compliance with donor requirements. The Team Leader will also be responsible for fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making and continuous quality improvement within the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Team Leader will lead the EpiC Nepal MNCH, Nutrition, and GHS Strategic Information (SI) Unit, ensuring the development and implementation of effective M&E systems. Key responsibilities include:
Developing, updating, and implementing Performance Monitoring & Evaluation Plans (PMEP) for the project and its implementing partners, ensuring that commitments and targets are met.
Ensuring that M&E systems accurately measure long-term accomplishments and project progress, while fulfilling reporting requirements for donors and stakeholders.
Contributing to regional operational plans and annual work plans.
Providing technical assistance to IHIMS/DHIS2 and other reporting systems.
Leading technical assistance efforts for national-level Routine Data Quality Assessments (DQA).
Coordinating SI-related technical assistance activities requested by USG partners and UN agencies.
Supporting the development of dashboards for government data systems.
Leading DQA planning and implementation, including field visits and reporting.
Promoting a culture of data analysis and evidence-based use for program improvement. 1
Developing and implementing M&E training curricula and materials for staff and partners. 1
Building capacity of implementing partner staff through monitoring and reviews. 1
Creating data-driven presentations for reports and meetings. 1
Representing EpiC Nepal in external functions and documenting lessons learned for dissemination.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master's degree in public health, Epidemiology, or a related field with at least five years of relevant work experience in IHIMS/DHIS2, GIS, and SI systems. Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree in public health or a related field with eight years of experience in SI systems and online reporting is acceptable. Proven skills in quantitative and qualitative data analysis and interpretation are essential. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively, manage multiple tasks effectively, and adapt to a virtual work environment. Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills are required, along with proficiency in both oral and written English and Nepali.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Master's degree in public health, Epidemiology, or a relevant subject. Candidates with a Bachelor's degree in the same fields may also be considered if they have significant experience in Strategic Information systems. The educational qualifications should reflect a strong foundation in public health principles and practices, particularly in relation to maternal, newborn, and child health.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of five years of work experience in relevant fields for candidates with a Master's degree, or eight years for those with a Bachelor's degree. Experience should include work with IHIMS/DHIS2, GIS, and Strategic Information systems, particularly in data collection and analysis. Candidates should have a proven track record of managing M&E systems and providing technical assistance to health programs.
Languages: Fluency in both English and Nepali is mandatory for this position, as effective communication is crucial for collaboration with local partners and stakeholders. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, but is not required.
