Job Overview:
The Senior Project Associate (Movements) plays a crucial role in overseeing and implementing project activities related to the capacity building of IOM partners working with vulnerable groups, including the reintegration of migrants under the Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) program. This position involves planning, coordinating, and monitoring project activities, compiling and analyzing data, and ensuring effective communication with various stakeholders. The Senior Project Associate will also be responsible for drafting reports, organizing training sessions, and maintaining project databases. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and external partners.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and implement project activities related to capacity building and reintegration of migrants.
  • Assist in planning, coordination, implementation, and monitoring of project activities.
  • Compile, summarize, analyze, and present information/data on specific project topics.
  • Monitor budget implementation and propose necessary adjustments.
  • Act as the focal point for administrative coordination of project implementation.
  • Draft status reports and identify shortfalls in delivery, suggesting corrective measures.
  • Prepare and update reports, briefing notes, and other documentation.
  • Organize meetings, workshops, and training sessions, and participate in delivering capacity building workshops.
  • Respond to complex information requests and inquiries, maintaining organized files/records. 1
  • Maintain effective liaison with local authorities, partners, UN agencies, and other stakeholders. 1
  • Monitor work of implementing partners and report non-compliance. 1
  • Provide inputs for the development of Standard Operations Procedures (SOPs) and new projects. 1
  • Supervise and provide guidance to other staff in the unit as assigned. 1
  • Participate in IOM Slovakia’s editorial board and implement communication plans. 1
  • Maintain project database and track individual cases. 1
  • Prepare reports on AVRR project and assist with movement-related activities. 1
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a school diploma with six years of relevant experience or a Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, or related fields from an accredited institution with four years of relevant professional experience. Accredited universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. Candidates should have experience in liaising with governmental authorities, UN agencies, and NGOs, as well as in external communication, report writing, and working with vulnerable groups.

Educational Background:
A school diploma with six years of relevant experience is required, or a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, or related fields from an accredited academic institution. The educational qualifications must be from institutions recognized by the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.

Experience:
Candidates should have substantial experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national and international institutions, UN agencies, and NGOs. Experience in external communication, including report writing and presentations, is essential. Additionally, candidates should have experience working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, and victims of trafficking. Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations or in a multicultural setting is considered an advantage.

Languages:
Fluency in Slovak and English is required, both oral and written. Working knowledge of Russian would be an advantage. Proficiency in the required languages will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.

Additional Notes:
The position is available on both a full-time and part-time basis. Any offer made to the candidate is subject to funding confirmation. This selection process may be used to staff similar positions in various duty stations, and recommended candidates will remain eligible for appointment in a similar position for 24 months. The post is subject to local recruitment, and only those holding a valid residence and work permit for Slovakia will be eligible for consideration.
