Job Overview: The position of Asistente de Calidad e Inocuidad involves supporting the implementation, maintenance, and supervision of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), ensuring compliance with quality and safety guidelines, and adhering to applicable laws in the operations of WFP in Colombia. The role is crucial in ensuring that food safety standards are met in community dining services operated by WFP. The assistant will work under the supervision of the Food Technologist and will be responsible for developing follow-up reports related to quality and safety in the services provided. This position is part of a broader effort to enhance security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">food security and nutrition for vulnerable populations in Colombia, particularly those affected by violence and marginalization. The assistant will contribute to the development of protocols and tools related to food quality and safety, ensuring alignment with national regulations and WFP policies. This role is essential in maintaining the integrity of food supply chains and responding to emergencies that may impact public health.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Asistente de Calidad e Inocuidad will have a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to: developing follow-up reports on quality and safety in community dining services; monitoring and supporting the closure of action plans for issues identified during inspections by governmental entities or internal audits; contributing to the development and application of protocols and tools related to food quality and safety; ensuring that food received in community kitchens is safe for consumption and that all stages of food handling, from storage to distribution, meet safety standards; assisting in emergency response situations that may affect the health of the population served; supporting investigations related to food safety incidents and documenting lessons learned to prevent recurrence; providing training and capacity-building support to food handlers on quality and safety issues; and performing other duties as required.
Required Qualifications: The minimum qualifications for this position include the completion of secondary education. A professional degree in food engineering, nutrition, agriculture, or related fields is desirable. Candidates should have a minimum of four years of experience in quality assurance, control, or management within the food industry or in food assistance projects for vulnerable populations. Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is essential, and practical knowledge of the Internet and Microsoft Outlook is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of food safety standards and practices.
Educational Background: Candidates must have completed secondary education, with a preference for those holding a professional degree in fields such as food engineering, nutrition, agriculture, or other related disciplines that align with the responsibilities of the position. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of food safety and quality management in humanitarian contexts.
Experience: A minimum of four years of relevant experience is required, particularly in quality assurance, control, or management within the food industry or in projects aimed at providing food assistance to vulnerable populations. This experience should demonstrate the candidate's ability to manage food safety protocols and respond effectively to quality assurance challenges in a humanitarian setting.
Languages: Fluency in Spanish, both oral and written, is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.
Additional Notes: The contract duration for this position is six months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and resource availability. The contractual modality is a Service Contract (SC) at level SC
