Job Overview: The position of Lead Consultant on Sustainable Infrastructure Investment Projects is a critical role within the UNDP Mongolia office. The consultant will provide technical support to the Sustainable Infrastructure Programme in Asia (SIPA) project team. Duties and Responsibilities: The Lead Consultant will be responsible for a range of duties including but not limited to: conducting assessments of current infrastructure projects to identify sustainability gaps; providing expert advice on best practices in sustainable infrastructure investment; collaborating with local and international stakeholders to promote sustainable practices; developing project proposals and reports that align with UNDP's strategic objectives; facilitating workshops and training sessions for local partners; monitoring and evaluating the progress of infrastructure projects; and ensuring compliance with UNDP policies and procedures. The consultant will also be expected to engage in continuous communication with the project team and provide updates on project developments.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong background in sustainable development, particularly in infrastructure investment. A proven track record of working on similar projects is essential. The consultant should demonstrate excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are required to effectively convey complex information to diverse audiences. Familiarity with UNDP's operational procedures and policies will be considered an asset.
Educational Background: A minimum of a Master's degree in a relevant field such as Environmental Science, Sustainable Development, Urban Planning, or a related discipline is required. Additional certifications or training in project management or sustainable infrastructure will be advantageous.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of professional experience in sustainable infrastructure projects, with a focus on investment strategies. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in the context of UNDP or similar agencies, is highly desirable. The consultant should have a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results within tight deadlines.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, as all reports and communications will be conducted in English. Proficiency in Mongolian is also required to effectively engage with local stakeholders and partners. Knowledge of additional languages will be considered a plus.
Additional Notes: This position is classified as an individual contractor role, and the contract duration is for 80 working days over a 4-month period.
