  • The FSS is a significant initiative under the leadership of the UN Secretary-General, who has committed the UN system to establish a UN Food Systems Coordination Hub to support countries in implementing food system transformation pathways. The Hub is hosted by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Rome and aims to facilitate collaborative solutions for food systems transformation. The FSS has gathered significant global participation, showcasing a commitment to food systems transformation and the need for collaborative solutions. The Hub has launched initiatives like the Convergence Initiative to align food systems transformation with climate action, emphasizing the importance of integrating these agendas for sustainable development.

Job Overview:
The Food Systems and Climate Action Data Analysis Specialist will play a crucial role in analyzing the convergence between Food Systems Transformation (FST) and Climate Action (CA) agendas, particularly in Armenia. The specialist will assess existing data to evaluate the alignment of these two areas at the national level, identifying gaps, synergies, and opportunities for improvement. This role is essential for supporting governments and stakeholders in understanding the current landscape of food systems and climate action, which will inform decision-making and strategic planning. The specialist will develop a background analysis document detailing the current state of convergence and propose a draft of the Convergence Action Blueprint, which will serve as a strategic framework for enhancing the integration of FST and CA initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The specialist will be responsible for several key tasks, including:
  • Document Review: Conducting a thorough review of existing documents related to food systems and climate action in Armenia.
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Gathering and analyzing data on the current state of food systems and climate action at the national level, identifying key areas of convergence and divergence between FST and CA agendas.
  • Background Analysis Document: Preparing a comprehensive document that outlines the current alignment between FST and CA, highlighting existing synergies, gaps, and opportunities for improved alignment.
  • Convergence Action Blueprint Drafting: Developing a draft of the Convergence Action Blueprint, providing strategic recommendations for enhancing the integration of FST and CA.
  • Workshop Preparation: Developing materials for upcoming workshops, ensuring all preparatory analysis and draft documents are ready for stakeholder review before the workshop, and participating in workshop facilitation. Deliverables include a comprehensive Background Analysis Document, a draft Convergence Action Blueprint, and a workshop facilitation plan.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:
  • A university degree in sustainable development, economics, law, social studies, or other areas related to the work of the UN Food Systems Coordination Hub.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in data collection and analysis, particularly in national policies related to food systems, security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">food security, climate action, climate adaptation, and mitigation.
  • A working knowledge of English is essential. Additionally, candidates should possess FAO core competencies such as results focus, teamwork, communication, building effective relationships, and knowledge sharing.

Educational Background:
The position requires a university degree in fields related to sustainable development, economics, law, social studies, or other relevant areas that align with the work of the UN Food Systems Coordination Hub. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of food systems and climate action.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in data collection and analysis, specifically focusing on national policies related to food systems, food security, climate action, climate adaptation, and mitigation. This experience should be gained within the country of assignment, ensuring familiarity with local contexts and challenges.

Languages:
