Job Overview: The Driver position at UN Women in Tajikistan is crucial for ensuring the safe and reliable transportation of UN Women personnel, high-ranking officials, and visitors. The Driver will report to the Head of Office and may also provide driving services to operations and program personnel, consultants, and UN staff on mission. In addition to driving, the Driver will be responsible for basic administrative and clerical support, contributing to the efficient functioning of the UN Women Programme Office. The position emphasizes a client-oriented approach, courtesy, and the ability to work with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide reliable and secure driving services, including transporting authorized personnel, high-ranking officials, and visitors, as well as delivering and collecting mail and documents.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations, including ensuring all passengers wear seatbelts and reporting incidents promptly.
Maintain accurate vehicle logs and history records, including mileage and fuel consumption.
Ensure the vehicle meets security and safety standards and adheres to UN Women policies.
Conduct minor repairs and arrange for major repairs as needed, ensuring timely maintenance and cleanliness of the vehicle.
Maintain all required documents and supplies in the vehicle, including insurance and first aid kits.
Provide general administrative support, including filing, photocopying, and assisting with office logistics and data entry tasks.
Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the efficient functioning of the office.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a valid driver's license and have completed secondary education. A minimum of three years of relevant driving experience in an international organization, embassy, or UN system is required, along with a safe driving record. Experience with basic computer use is considered an asset. Candidates should demonstrate excellent driving skills, knowledge of driving rules and regulations, and the ability to manage vehicle maintenance effectively.
Educational Background: The position requires completion of secondary education, which provides the foundational knowledge necessary for the role. A valid driver's license is mandatory to ensure compliance with legal driving requirements.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have at least three years of relevant experience as a driver, particularly within international organizations, embassies, or the UN system. This experience should include a proven safe driving record and familiarity with the responsibilities associated with driving high-ranking officials and managing vehicle logistics.
Languages: Fluency in Tajik and Russian is required for effective communication in the local context. Knowledge of English is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with international personnel and documentation.
