Job Overview: The Information Management (IM) Officer position at UNFPA Myanmar is crucial for enhancing the Information Management components of the organization's humanitarian programming and inter-agency coordination efforts. Given the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Myanmar, characterized by widespread conflict and displacement, the IM Officer will play a pivotal role in supporting data collection, analysis, reporting, and communication efforts. The officer will work closely with various stakeholders, including the GBV AoR (Gender-Based Violence Area of Responsibility) and MHPSS (Mental Health and psychosocial-support" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Psychosocial Support) Working Group, to ensure that data-driven decisions are made to address the needs of the affected populations. The IM Officer will also be responsible for preparing monthly work plans and progress reports, ensuring that the information management function is robust and responsive to the evolving humanitarian context.
Duties and Responsibilities: The IM Officer will undertake a variety of tasks aimed at enhancing the Information Management function within the GBV AoR and MHPSS Working Group. Key responsibilities include providing IM services for decision-making, which encompasses data collection, collation, analysis, and dissemination processes tailored to the needs of the AoR/Working Group. The officer will proactively gather information from partners and stakeholders to inform advocacy and programming decisions. Additionally, the IM Officer will identify secondary data resources, adapt existing IM tools, design data collection forms, manage data input and initial analysis, and maintain contact lists and online platforms. The officer will also support quarterly reporting, document meeting minutes, coordinate interpretation support during meetings, liaise with OCHA and other clusters, and promote capacity building among UNFPA staff and partners. The role requires collaboration with the M&E team to support information management and reporting of humanitarian programs/projects, along with any other duties assigned by UNFPA.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the IM Officer position should possess a strong background in information technology, information management systems, and monitoring and evaluation, particularly in humanitarian contexts. A demonstrated ability to analyze data and statistics relevant to humanitarian operations is essential. Candidates should also have a good understanding of confidentiality, data safety, and ethical concerns related to sharing sensitive data. Advanced skills in Excel, including proficiency with pivot tables and functions, are required. Experience in inter-agency coordination related to information management is considered an advantage. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of working collaboratively in a complex environment.
Educational Background: The position requires an advanced university degree in information technology, public health, population, demography, or another related social science discipline. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of information management within humanitarian operations and for effectively contributing to the organization's goals.
Experience: Candidates should have up to 2 years of relevant experience in information technology, information management systems, and/or monitoring and evaluation within humanitarian operations. This experience should demonstrate the candidate's capacity to analyze data and contribute to effective information management practices in a humanitarian context.
Languages: Proficiency in both English and Myanmar languages is mandatory for this position. This bilingual capability is crucial for effective communication with local stakeholders and for ensuring that information is accurately conveyed and understood across different contexts.
Additional Notes: The position is a full-time role for a duration of 10 months, with the possibility of extension subject to funding availability.
