Job Overview: The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position within UNDP's Business and Human Rights Asia Portfolio offers a unique opportunity to engage with various stakeholders and support the implementation of projects aimed at promoting human rights in business practices across Asia. Interns will gain exposure to the UNDP's work in the business and human rights field, contributing to research activities, awareness-raising events, and capacity-building initiatives. The role involves assisting in the development of communication materials, managing knowledge repositories, and supporting logistical arrangements for meetings and workshops. Interns will also participate in team discussions, providing input on strategies and content creation, thereby enhancing their understanding of international development and human rights issues.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
Communications, Outreach and Content Development (50%): - Developing communication materials that effectively capture program outputs and results, including briefs, web content, and newsletters. - Analyzing engagement across communication platforms and contributing to performance reporting. - Coordinating communications across countries and partners to ensure consistent messaging. - Contributing to communication planning that enhances external engagement and showcases program impact.
Knowledge Management and Coordination Support (40%): - Organizing and updating the program's knowledge management repository, including tools and guidance materials. - Assisting in data collection related to knowledge use and outreach for internal learning. - Providing logistical support for meetings and workshops, including agenda preparation and stakeholder coordination. - Supporting regional communities of practice linked to business and human rights.
Other (10%): - Participating in team meetings and brainstorming sessions to provide input on strategy and content. - Supporting additional tasks as identified by the supervisor and the Business and Human Rights Asia team.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must demonstrate a strong interest in international development and business and human rights, with a motivation to contribute to program implementation. They should possess strong organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively, and a collaborative spirit to work in a multicultural team environment. Candidates should also exhibit sound judgment and professionalism in handling information, as well as sensitivity to cultural and diversity issues in line with UN values. Openness to feedback and a proactive approach to work are essential.
Educational Background: Candidates must meet one of the following educational requirements: currently in the final year of a Bachelor’s degree; currently enrolled in a Master’s degree; or have graduated no longer than 1 year from a bachelor’s or master’s degree or equivalent studies. Preferred fields of study include Communication, Journalism, International Development, International Relations, Sociology, or other related fields in Social Sciences or Humanities.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have demonstrated experience or a strong aptitude in social media content creation and digital communications. Familiarity with managing social media platforms and understanding audience engagement is essential. Experience with basic social media analytics and digital performance tracking is also important. Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and experience with collaborative platforms is an asset.
Languages: English is required for this position, and knowledge of other UN languages is considered an advantage. Candidates should be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, to engage with diverse audiences.
Additional Notes: The internship is unpaid, but UNDP will provide a monthly stipend in accordance with its internship policy. Interns are responsible for their own expenses related to travel, accommodation, and obtaining necessary visas. Interns are expected to work full-time, although flexibility is allowed for educational commitments. They must provide proof of enrollment in a health insurance plan and are not eligible to apply for any post in UNDP during the internship period. Interns are not staff members and may not represent UNDP in any official capacity.
