Job Overview:
The Humanitarian Mine Action Team Leader position is based in Al-Kisweh, Rural Damascus, with potential deployments to other areas in Syria as needed. The Team Leader is responsible for overseeing and supervising the activities of the assigned team, ensuring that all operations are conducted safely and efficiently in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). This role involves coordinating with local authorities and relevant stakeholders to facilitate safe operations and mitigate disruptions caused by security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security forces. The Team Leader will also be involved in planning and preparing for future tasks, managing team performance, and ensuring that team members have the necessary resources and training to carry out their duties effectively. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances in a challenging operational environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Humanitarian Mine Action Team Leader will have a wide range of responsibilities including: planning and monitoring team members' leave, reviewing and authorizing leave applications, managing team welfare, conducting performance reviews, and implementing Performance Improvement Plans for underperforming staff. The Team Leader will supervise all team activities, ensuring compliance with SOPs, and assist in all aspects of Humanitarian Mine Action operations. Coordination with local authorities, community leaders, and stakeholders is essential to ensure safe operations. The Team Leader will also conduct planning and reconnaissance for future task sites, support other HMA Team Leaders, ensure the team has necessary materials and equipment, operate DRC vehicles as needed, and maintain high standards of discipline and professional conduct among team members. Regular Quality Management checks will be conducted to uphold operational standards, and the Team Leader will be responsible for training team members and maintaining equipment. Daily safety briefings will be held, and the Team Leader will complete required reports and perform any other tasks as directed by management.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum IMAS EOD Level 2 certification from a recognized international training establishment. Additionally, at least 2 years of experience in managing a team of six or more personnel is required. A valid manual driving license (Category A) is necessary, along with the ability to operate a 4x4 vehicle in the field while adhering to safety guidelines. Candidates should also demonstrate physical fitness and proficiency in MS Office applications such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Educational Background:
A minimum of a High School Diploma is required for this position. Candidates with higher educational qualifications may be preferred, but the essential requirement is a completed high school education.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a supervisory role, particularly in managing teams in challenging environments. Experience in humanitarian operations, particularly in mine action or related fields, is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate a strong ability to lead and manage personnel effectively, ensuring operational efficiency and safety.

Languages:
Fluency in both English and Arabic is mandatory, with candidates expected to demonstrate proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in both languages. This bilingual capability is crucial for effective communication with team members, local authorities, and stakeholders in the operational context.

Additional Notes:
The contract for this position is for 12 months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and available funding. The role is classified at the Management G level, and the expected start date is as soon as possible.
