Job Overview:
The Project Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the Project Manager in coordinating project activities related to two significant initiatives: 'Safe School Zones in Viet Nam' and 'Building Lasting Investment Solutions to Make India’s Roads Safer.' The position involves preparing evidence-based analytical outputs on school-zone crash risks in Viet Nam and investment solutions in India. The Project Assistant will also assist in consolidating analyses of cost-effective interventions and support the organization of capacity-building workshops and meetings for the two projects. Key outputs expected from this role include a comprehensive Safe School Zone policy package and a research report on investment solutions, along with an integrated monitoring toolkit for effective project management and reporting.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Project Assistant will be responsible for a variety of tasks including:
  • Supporting the Project Manager in coordinating project activities and ensuring alignment with project objectives.
  • Preparing analytical outputs related to school-zone crash risks and investment solutions.
  • Conducting research and analysis to inform project deliverables.
  • Assisting in the development of a comprehensive Safe School Zone policy package.
  • Creating an integrated monitoring toolkit that includes progress matrices, status briefs, and data visualizations for reporting purposes.
  • Providing responsive implementation support, including additional analytical inputs as required.
  • Organizing capacity-building workshops and meetings to facilitate knowledge exchange and project implementation.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in any field. Additionally, prior experience in transport research and analysis is required, along with familiarity with Sustainable Development Goals and indicators. Desirable qualifications include experience working with international organizations and expertise in transport planning and research for project implementation.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree is required for this position. This could be in fields related to transport, urban planning, public policy, or any other relevant discipline that supports the analytical and research functions of the role.

Experience:
Candidates should have prior experience in transport research and analysis, which is essential for understanding the complexities of the projects. Familiarity with the Sustainable Development Goals and indicators is also necessary. Experience with international organizations is desirable, as it indicates an understanding of the global context in which the projects operate. Additionally, experience in transport planning and data analysis for project implementation will be beneficial.

Languages:
Very good proficiency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization and for project documentation. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset but is not explicitly required for this role.
