Job Overview:
The Grants Manager (GM) position at DRC Syria is designed for a dynamic and self-motivated individual with substantial experience in leading grants frameworks and processes. The GM will oversee the entire lifecycle of grants management, ensuring effective administration, donor compliance, and timely reporting. This role is crucial for strengthening current and future programs and strategic partnerships. The GM will coordinate and develop successful proposals, manage grants staff, and collaborate closely with various teams including MEAL, Technical Programme, and Support Services. The position also involves leading communication and visibility activities to enhance awareness campaigns, making it a multifaceted role that combines program development, fundraising, and communication strategies.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Grants Manager will be responsible for several key areas:
  • Programme Development and Fundraising: Collaborate with the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director and Head of Programme to support the development of DRC Syria’s fundraising strategy, including donor mapping and engagement tracking. Coordinate the proposal development process, ensuring high-quality submissions that align with strategic priorities.
  • Grant Management and Reporting: Manage the DRC Grants Management System, ensuring compliance with donor regulations and internal guidelines. Lead the preparation of project kick-off, review, and close-out meetings, and provide regular updates on grant delivery and challenges.
  • Grant Management Support to Local Partners: Collaborate with local implementing partners, providing technical support and guidance during proposal development.
  • Communications: Supervise the Communications Officer to ensure quality communication products and implement a country program communication plan.
  • Management and Internal Capacity Building: Lead the Grants team, providing support, training, and performance feedback. Conduct internal training on grants management and communication requirements.
  • Other Responsibilities: Accountable for achieving strategic goals and making significant decisions regarding the unit's functions and resource allocation.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess at least 5 years of practical, field-based experience in proposal development and grants management within an INGO, with a minimum of 3 years in a managerial or specialist role. Experience working with national partners on programming and capacity strengthening is preferred, along with at least 3 years of people management experience. Candidates should demonstrate strong communication, coordination, and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to prioritize workloads and adapt in complex environments. A commitment to humanitarian principles and DRC values is essential.

Educational Background:
A degree in a relevant field such as Social Sciences, International Development, or equivalent work experience is required for this position. Candidates should have a solid understanding of the principles and practices related to grants management and proposal development.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, including at least 3 years in a managerial or coordinator role. Experience in leading the development of Theories of Change and Logical Frameworks is essential, while experience in Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) is desirable but not mandatory. Candidates should have a proven track record of managing stakeholders and delivering results in challenging environments.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, while proficiency in Arabic is desirable. Candidates should be able to communicate effectively in both languages, particularly in the context of grants management and reporting.
