Job Overview:
The Protection Project Manager will play a crucial role in overseeing the Protection from Violence (PfV) program in the East area of Ukraine. This position is designed for an experienced professional who can manage the project cycle effectively, ensuring that all activities align with NRC's strategies and proposals. The manager will be responsible for mentoring and training staff, enhancing their capacity to address technical issues related to protection. The role requires strong coordination and advocacy skills, as well as excellent communication abilities to report on project progress and challenges. The successful candidate will ensure that the PfV program is implemented safely and inclusively, contributing to the overall mission of NRC in Ukraine.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Protection Project Manager will be responsible for the effective management of PfV projects in East Ukraine, ensuring adherence to the project management cycle and safe programming practices. Key responsibilities include developing annual activity and work plans, managing project budgets, and contributing to the rollout of Civilian Self-Protection activities. The manager will supervise and mentor the project team on Protection Case Management and Individual Protection Assistance, ensuring compliance with NRC standards. Participation in Project Review Meetings and organizing project reviews for the PfV team will be essential, as will facilitating community participatory processes such as assessments and workshops. The manager will also provide input for internal and external reporting, represent NRC in relevant sectoral coordination meetings, and ensure the implementation of monitoring and evaluation activities. Additionally, the role involves establishing referral mechanisms and developing standard operating procedures for case tracking, while promoting the rights of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and returnees.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a relevant university degree and have at least three years of field experience as a Protection Project Manager in complex emergencies. The role requires expertise in project cycle management, risk management, staff management, and grants and budgets management. Experience in logistics and administration management is also necessary, along with a proven track record in coordination and advocacy work. Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential, as is fluency in English. A valid driver's license is required for this position.

Educational Background:
A relevant university degree is mandatory for this position, ensuring that candidates have the necessary academic foundation to manage complex protection projects effectively. The educational background should ideally include studies related to humanitarian assistance, social sciences, or a related field that equips the candidate with the knowledge and skills required for the role.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of three years of field experience working as a Protection Project Manager in complex emergencies. This experience should encompass responsibilities related to project cycle management, risk management, staff management and development, as well as grants and budgets management. Candidates with experience in logistics and administration management will be preferred, as this knowledge is crucial for the effective execution of project activities in challenging environments.

Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory for this position. Additionally, knowledge of local languages, specifically Ukrainian and Russian, is highly desirable. Proficiency in these languages will facilitate effective communication with local communities and stakeholders, enhancing the overall impact of the protection program.

Additional Notes:
The duty station for this position is Dnipro, with linked field offices in the East area. The contract is expected to last until the end of 2026, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding availability. The role will require approximately 40% travel to field locations, necessitating flexibility and adaptability.
