Job Overview: The Gender in Humanitarian Action (GIHA) CoordinationAnalyst position at UN Women in Ukraine is designed to support the coordination of gender-focused humanitarian efforts in response to the ongoing crisis caused by the Russian Federation's invasion of Ukraine. The role involves providing technical assistance on gender in humanitarian action, facilitating the integration of gender considerations throughout the humanitarian response cycle, and supporting the development of the GIHA Working Group's annual work plan. The analyst will represent UN Women in various coordination structures, ensuring that gender issues are prioritized in humanitarian planning and response. This position requires collaboration with multiple stakeholders, including government authorities, NGOs, and other humanitarian actors, to enhance the effectiveness of gender-responsive programming and advocacy efforts.
Duties and Responsibilities: The GIHA Coordination Analyst will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including coordinating the GIHA Working Group, providing gender technical support to humanitarian response actors, and reviewing humanitarian program outputs to ensure gender integration. The analyst will also contribute to capacity-building initiatives, supporting training for cluster gender focal points and humanitarian response workers. Additionally, the role involves developing knowledge products, supporting advocacy efforts, and providing program support to the humanitarian program team. The incumbent will engage with various stakeholders to identify opportunities for programming and partnerships, ensuring that gender considerations are embedded in all aspects of humanitarian response.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master's degree or equivalent in social sciences, human rights, gender/women's studies, international development, or a related field. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree. A project/programme management certification is an added advantage. The position requires strong organizational skills, knowledge of humanitarian principles, and experience in gender-responsive programming and humanitarian coordination.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Master's degree in relevant fields such as social sciences, human rights, gender/women's studies, or international development. Alternatively, a first-level university degree with additional qualifying experience may be considered. A project/programme management certification would enhance a candidate's profile.
Experience: At least two years of progressively responsible experience in implementing gender-responsive programs, particularly in the context of humanitarian action, is required. Candidates should have experience in humanitarian coordination, monitoring and evaluation, and capacity-building activities focused on gender and protection. Experience in coaching and training partners on gender equality concepts, as well as building partnerships with civil society organizations, INGOs, and government agencies, is essential.
Languages: Fluency in English and Ukrainian is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language, such as French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish, is desirable and would be considered an asset.
