Job Overview:
The Training Associate position is crucial for strengthening the technical and institutional capacities of national and local government agencies in Mongolia regarding the implementation of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). The role involves developing and advancing an annual capacity building and training plan, which is essential for supporting institutions in conducting trainings and events related to climate action. The Training Associate will work closely with various stakeholders, including the Climate Change Department of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, to ensure that the training programs are effectively designed and implemented. This position requires a proactive approach to identifying training needs and developing methodologies to address them, ensuring that the training provided is relevant and impactful. The Training Associate will also play a key role in facilitating communication and collaboration among different partners involved in climate action initiatives in Mongolia.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Training Associate will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including but not limited to: developing an annual capacity building and training program for NDC implementation; leading the mapping processes to identify training and capacity-building needs across various sectors; designing and developing training courses and materials in collaboration with relevant agencies; coordinating training and capacity development efforts related to agriculture and land use; preparing feedback questionnaires and reports to monitor and evaluate training effectiveness; establishing partnerships with experts and training institutions; providing regular updates to NDC Focal Points and relevant staff; developing terms of references for external training; organizing and supporting trainings and events; conducting training needs assessments; and ensuring that gender issues are integrated into all training engagements. The Training Associate will also maintain documentation and provide translations as necessary, contributing to the overall efficiency of the office and the organization.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in areas related to climate change, sustainable development, or environmental sciences, particularly in developing and implementing communication and knowledge management strategies for government organizations or projects. Alternatively, candidates with a Bachelor's degree in relevant fields may qualify with 4 years of experience. Proficiency in using computers and office software packages is essential, along with advanced knowledge of spreadsheet and database management. Desired skills include experience with NDC and climate change initiatives, the ability to develop training materials and guidelines, and strong communication skills for facilitating workshops and reporting results.

Educational Background:
While secondary education is required, a university degree (Bachelor's degree) in environmental sciences, environmental management, policy development, climate change, communication, or related fields will be given due consideration. This educational background is important for understanding the complexities of climate action and the necessary strategies for effective implementation of NDCs.

Experience:
The position requires significant experience, specifically a minimum of 7 years with secondary education or 4 years with a Bachelor's degree. This experience should be progressively responsible and directly related to climate change, sustainable development, or environmental sciences. Candidates should have a proven track record in developing and implementing communication strategies and knowledge management for government organizations or similar projects.

Languages:
Fluency in both English and Mongolian is required for this position. This bilingual capability is essential for effective communication and collaboration with local stakeholders and international partners involved in climate action initiatives.
