Job Overview: The ICT Assistant position is crucial for providing technical support and assistance within the OSCE Mission to Serbia. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the National ICT Officer and will be responsible for a variety of tasks related to user support for office automation products, video-teleconferencing systems, and records management. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to assist mission members with technical issues related to IT equipment and software. The incumbent will also be involved in testing new software and hardware, managing user accounts, and ensuring the smooth operation of the local area network (LAN). This position is designed for individuals who are not only technically skilled but also possess strong communication abilities to effectively assist a diverse group of users.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the ICT Assistant include:
Providing user support for standard office automation products, including MS Office applications, email systems, and desktop computers.
Assisting with video-teleconferencing setups and providing support for mission members using various platforms such as CISCO WebEx and Microsoft LYNC.
Troubleshooting technical issues and providing solutions through direct assistance, phone support, or remote access software.
Managing records and archiving data, including maintaining the Mission’s intranet page and ensuring proper documentation practices.
Testing and deploying new software and hardware, updating operating systems, and briefing users on their operation.
Acting as the system support for the LAN, managing user accounts, and overseeing multifunctional printers.
Keeping a logbook of issued equipment and managing the relocation and maintenance of computer equipment.
Performing additional duties as required, which may include driving official vehicles for equipment installation at external events.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess citizenship or permanent residence in the Republic of Serbia. A completed secondary education is required, supplemented by formal training in information technology (ICT). Applicants should have a minimum of three years of experience in data processing applications, with a strong background in providing user support for office automation packages, preferably in an international or public sector environment. Proficiency in standard Microsoft packages and other common office software is essential, along with excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and Serbian. A valid driving license is also required, along with a demonstrated awareness of gender sensitivity and the ability to work with diverse groups.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a completed secondary education, which may be complemented by additional formal training in information technology (ICT). This educational foundation is essential for understanding the technical aspects of the role and for effectively supporting users with various IT-related issues.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of three years of relevant experience in data processing applications and user support for office automation software. Candidates should have extensive practical experience in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues, particularly in environments similar to international organizations or public sector institutions.
Languages: Fluency in both English and Serbian is mandatory for this position, as effective communication with mission members and stakeholders is crucial. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.
Additional Notes: The position offers a one-year fixed-term Letter of Appointment, subject to a satisfactory completion of a six-month probationary period. The contract may be renewed annually based on performance and the ongoing need for the role. The monthly remuneration is approximately EUR 1,308.33, subject to social security deductions, and includes participation in the Cigna medical insurance scheme and the OSCE Provident Fund.
