Job Overview: The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) in Nigeria is seeking an enthusiastic and passionate Driver to join their team in Maiduguri, Borno State. The primary function of this position is to provide driving support for program activities in Maiduguri, ensuring the safe and secure transportation of staff and goods. The Driver will be responsible for picking up and dropping off employees at their designated duty areas, delivering important documents, and maintaining the cleanliness and functionality of NIF vehicles. This role is crucial in supporting the organization's mission to assist refugees and those forced to flee, and it requires a commitment to safety and efficiency in all driving tasks.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Driver will have a variety of specific responsibilities, including: driving NIF vehicles to transport employees to their designated duty areas within and outside Maiduguri; ensuring the safety and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security of passengers, goods, and the vehicle; delivering important documents to required destinations as directed; ensuring that all deliveries are signed and delivered to the correct recipient; keeping NIF vehicles clean and well-maintained; performing preventive and regular maintenance on NIF vehicles; conveying NIF staff on assignments to their desired destinations; picking up and dropping off NIF staff and partners from the airport; charting the best routes to save time; and updating the office on the status of vehicle particulars for timely registrations and renewals.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess experience working as service support staff in a humanitarian or recovery context, with previous experience in complex and volatile environments. A valid Driver’s License or driving school certificate is required, along with a good knowledge of Maiduguri and its surroundings. Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is essential. Personal qualities that are important for this role include the ability to manage resources effectively, optimize results, manage performance and development, analyze situations, handle insecure environments, empower and build trust among colleagues, and maintain a good sense of humor.
