Job Overview:
The Driver position at FHI 360 UK-Nigeria is a critical role that involves the transportation of staff, consultants, equipment, and program goods to various locations including offices, guest houses, hotels, airports, hospitals, agency offices, and warehouses. The driver will operate under the direction of the Facilities Officer and is expected to ensure the safety and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security of all passengers while adhering to the organization's fleet policies and protocols. The role requires a proactive approach to vehicle maintenance and safety checks, as well as effective communication skills to report any issues or incidents that may arise during transportation. The driver will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records of vehicle usage and ensuring that all necessary documentation is up to date. This position is essential for the smooth operation of FHI 360's activities in response to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Driver will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:

• Conduct daily vehicle checks before and after use to ensure safety and functionality.
• Verify that all items listed on the vehicle checklist and inventory are present and in working order.
• Report any defects or damages to the vehicle immediately.
• Submit monthly reports on mileage, fuel consumption, and maintenance to the head driver.
• Ensure that all vehicle journeys are authorized in advance and recorded in the logbook at the start and completion of each journey.
• Maintain valid vehicle documentation, including insurance, and keep the documents folder updated.
• Secure vehicle keys and documents when the vehicle is not in use.
• Ensure that all passengers use seat belts before the vehicle is in motion.
• Drive FHI 360 vehicles within approved speed limits and adhere to fleet policies. 1
• Report all incidents or accidents immediately, including near misses. 1
• Ensure the safety of passengers at all times and follow security protocols. 1
• Provide logistical support to the warehouse assistant as required.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the Driver position must possess the following qualifications:

• A qualified SSCE/NECO Certificate Examination.
• A minimum of 1-4 years of experience working as a driver with reputable organizations, including international non-governmental organizations (INGOs), corporate entities, or government agencies.
• Experience as a mechanic or auto-electrician is desirable.
• Previous experience working in Northeast Nigeria or in relatively insecure locations is preferred.
• A valid National driving license is mandatory.
• Excellent verbal communication and listening skills are essential.
• Proficiency in English, Hausa, and Kanuri is required.
• Computer literacy, including knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is necessary.

Educational Background:
Candidates applying for the Driver position must have completed their secondary education and possess a qualified SSCE/NECO Certificate Examination. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has the foundational knowledge and skills necessary for the role.

Experience:

Additional Notes:
This position is full-time and is based in Maiduguri, Borno State, Nigeria. The expected hiring salary range for this role is indexed to USD 3,550 - 4,200 for annual gross salary, which includes basic pay and allowances. The final offer will take into account various factors such as relevant experience, education, internal equity, market pay, and budget considerations.
