Job Overview:
The Accountant position at FHI 360 UK-Nigeria is crucial for ensuring the financial integrity and compliance of projects in Borno State. The role involves reporting to the Finance Manager and is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, and monitoring project budgets. The Accountant will play a key role in supporting the financial operations of the organization, particularly in the context of the ongoing humanitarian crisis affecting IDPs in the region. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Accountant will assist the Finance Manager in maintaining accurate books of accounts for the project, including checking accounts, equipment and supply registers, and all accounting records. Responsibilities include supporting the preparation of monthly and annual financial reports, monitoring subproject budgets, analyzing financial data, and producing periodic reports. The Accountant will also assist in processing cash advances, managing petty cash, preparing fiscal year budgets, and maintaining financial spreadsheets. Additional duties include developing budgets, addressing issues related to monthly expenditures, and performing other assigned tasks as necessary. The role requires routine coordination with project employees and consultants, both on-site and in the field, to ensure effective financial management and compliance with organizational policies.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a BS/BA degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration, or a recognized equivalent, along with 5 years of relevant experience. Alternatively, a MS/MA degree in the same fields with 3 years of relevant experience is acceptable. A minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting related to international development programs is required. Familiarity with USAID-funded programs and non-governmental organizations in Nigeria is advantageous. Professional certifications such as CPA, ACA, or ICAN are preferred.
