Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Coordinator include:
  • Developing guidance for transformative, innovative, catalytic, and actionable pledges related to human rights and climate action.
  • Creating and implementing a detailed work plan to operationalize the Sumaúma Pledging Tree initiative, leading up to its launch at UNFCCC COP 3
  • Establishing and coordinating the work of the Advisory Board to enhance the initiative's visibility and ensure alignment with international human rights standards.
  • Actively reaching out to various stakeholders, including state institutions, local authorities, Indigenous Peoples, and civil society organizations, to encourage their participation and commitments.
  • Supporting the co-development of human rights-based climate solutions with affected communities.
  • Organizing and participating in public events and activities to promote the initiative.
  • Developing promotional materials, both online and printed, to raise awareness about the initiative.
  • Mobilizing resources to maximize the operationalization of the Sumaúma Pledging Tree.
  • Serving as the secretariat for the initiative, processing pledges, and coordinating with counterparts in the Brazilian government. 1
