Job Overview:
The Individual Consultant: Youth Volunteering and Strategic Partnerships Consultant position is primarily focused on enhancing youth volunteering initiatives and developing strategic partnerships to further UNICEF's mission. The consultant will be responsible for managing their own time and ensuring the timely submission of deliverables as per a specific delivery schedule. This role is largely remote/home-based, although the consultant will be required to visit UNICEF office premises in New Delhi for meetings as needed. The consultant will work closely with UNICEF teams to identify opportunities for youth engagement and collaboration with various stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and community organizations. The consultant's work will contribute to the overall goal of empowering youth and ensuring their active participation in decision-making processes that affect their lives and communities. The position requires a proactive approach to building relationships and fostering partnerships that align with UNICEF's objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Individual Consultant include but are not limited to:
  • Developing and implementing strategies for youth volunteering initiatives that align with UNICEF's mission and objectives.
  • Identifying and establishing partnerships with relevant stakeholders, including government bodies, NGOs, and community organizations, to promote youth engagement.
  • Conducting research and analysis to inform the development of youth volunteering programs and initiatives.
  • Facilitating workshops, training sessions, and meetings to promote youth participation and collaboration.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the impact of youth volunteering initiatives and partnerships, providing recommendations for improvement.
  • Preparing reports and presentations to communicate findings and progress to UNICEF management and stakeholders.
  • Ensuring compliance with UNICEF's policies and procedures throughout the consultancy period.
  • Collaborating with other UNICEF teams to integrate youth volunteering into broader programmatic efforts.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the Individual Consultant position include:
  • Proven experience in youth engagement, volunteering, or related fields.
  • Strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing youth in the context of development and humanitarian work.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop innovative solutions.
  • Familiarity with UNICEF's mission, values, and programs is an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for the position includes:
  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in social sciences, international development, public policy, or a related field.
  • A master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred but not mandatory.

Experience:
The level of experience needed for the position includes:
  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in youth engagement, volunteering, or partnership development.
  • Experience working with international organizations, NGOs, or government agencies is highly desirable.

Languages:
The mandatory language requirement for the position is proficiency in English. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly Hindi or other regional languages, is considered an asset and would be advantageous for the role.

Additional Notes:
The consultancy contract is for a duration of 22 months and is delivery-based, meaning that the consultant will be responsible for managing their own time and ensuring the submission of deliverables according to a specified schedule.
