Job Overview:
The Information Management Officer will play a crucial role in the technical leadership of the Information Management (IM) setup in Tawila Area Office (AO). This position is responsible for overseeing the efficiency, reliability, and accountability of the IM system, managing resources effectively, and collaborating closely with the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) team. The officer will ensure compliance with NRC and donor project methodologies, tools, handbooks, guidelines, and standards relevant to Cash and Markets programming. The role also involves developing and maintaining an efficient IM system tailored for Cash and Voucher Assistance (CVA) responses in North Darfur, providing analysis" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">technical analysis and feedback, and promoting ideas for program development. The Information Management Officer will be expected to design assessments and surveys, ensure data quality, and develop innovative data analysis products to support decision-making and enhance humanitarian response efforts.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Information Management Officer will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including:
  • Ensuring compliance with NRC and donor project methodologies, tools, handbooks, guidelines, and standards relevant to Cash and Markets programming.
  • Collaborating with the Emergency Response Project Manager to develop and maintain an efficient IM system for CVA responses in North Darfur.
  • Designing assessments and surveys to ensure the effectiveness and reliability of data collection tools.
  • Conducting quality control and monitoring of project activities.
  • Designing data analysis products and incorporating innovative approaches such as interactive dashboards and data visualization.
  • Ensuring that IM systems adhere to high data quality standards and protocols for data collection, storage, and analysis.
  • Evaluating and assessing current processes to identify areas for enhancing IM processes and proposing tailored solutions.
  • Coordinating with the MEL team and other stakeholders for accurate and timely data reporting.
  • Ensuring compliance with NRC's data protection policy and overseeing proper management of SharePoint Platform and databases.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the Information Management Officer position should possess the following qualifications:
  • A minimum of 2 years of overall experience in information management, data analysis, data visualization, and effective use of data management tools and digital solutions, preferably in humanitarian or development contexts.
  • Experience in designing data collection tools, database management, and conducting surveys.
  • Proficiency in IM tools and software, including advanced Excel, Access, KoboToolbox, ODK, GIS/mapping tools, and other relevant program-specific systems.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-cultural environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize effectively.
  • Knowledge of the Sudan Emergency Response crisis is considered an asset.
  • Previous experience with NRC in a similar role is also an asset.

Educational Background:
Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree in information management, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field, or any relevant study that equips them with the necessary skills and knowledge for the role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in information management, data analysis, and the effective use of data management tools, particularly in humanitarian or development contexts. Candidates should demonstrate a solid understanding of data collection methodologies and the ability to design and implement data management systems.

Languages:
Fluency in both English and Arabic, both written and verbal, is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.

This position is full-time and based in Sudan. The role may involve working in insecure environments, and candidates should be prepared to manage resources effectively to optimize results. The Information Management Officer will be expected to demonstrate strategic thinking and the ability to empower and build trust within the team and with stakeholders.
