Job Overview: The position of Global Roster of Disaster Risk Reduction, Early Warning Systems, and Anticipatory Action Consultants is designed for professionals who are committed to making a significant impact in the field of disaster risk reduction and management. The consultants will be expected to provide expert advice and support in developing and implementing early warning systems and anticipatory action strategies that can effectively mitigate the impacts of disasters on vulnerable populations, particularly children. The role requires a deep understanding of disaster risk management frameworks and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and community organizations. The consultants will also be responsible for contributing to the development of guidelines and best practices in disaster preparedness and response, ensuring that the needs of children and their families are prioritized in all interventions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide technical expertise in disaster risk reduction and early warning systems to UNICEF and its partners.
Develop and implement anticipatory action strategies that address the specific needs of children and communities at risk.
Collaborate with local and national governments to strengthen disaster preparedness and response frameworks.
Conduct assessments and evaluations of existing early warning systems and recommend improvements.
Facilitate training and capacity-building workshops for stakeholders involved in disaster risk management.
Contribute to the development of policy briefs and reports on disaster risk reduction initiatives.
Engage with communities to raise awareness about disaster risks and promote resilience-building activities.

Proven experience in disaster risk reduction, early warning systems, and anticipatory action.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience in stakeholder engagement.

Proficiency in project management and the ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess an advanced degree (Master's or equivalent) in a relevant field such as disaster management, environmental science, public health, or social sciences. A PhD is an advantage but not mandatory. Continuous professional development in related areas is also highly valued.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in disaster risk reduction, early warning systems, and anticipatory action is required. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in humanitarian contexts, is highly desirable. Familiarity with UNICEF's mission and values will be considered an asset.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly those relevant to the regions where UNICEF operates, is considered an asset. Proficiency in local languages spoken in Thailand would be beneficial.
