Job Overview:
The Logistics Technical Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the Logistics Coordinator in the implementation of the delegated project portfolio. This position is essential for ensuring that all logistics operations adhere to NRC policies and guidelines. The assistant will be responsible for maintaining proper documentation, promoting technical improvements, and coordinating with relevant partners and sectors. The role requires a proactive approach to logistics management, ensuring that procurement processes are efficient and compliant with established procedures. The assistant will also be involved in fleet management and store management, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively and that goods are stored properly. This position is vital for maintaining the operational efficiency of NRC's logistics functions in the field.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Procurement: Assist in ensuring that all NRC procurements are completed according to procedures and within stipulated timeframes. Ensure compliance with NRC procurement policies, procedures, and lead times.
• Fleet Management: Support the Logistics Coordinator in maximizing fleet efficiency through planned resource allocation and maintenance in line with NRC transport guidelines.
• Store Management: Handle goods receipts, ensure proper storage, and manage documentation professionally. Maintain accurate records in accordance with finance and logistics procedures. Ensure storage areas are organized and report any issues to the Logistics Officer or Area Manager.
• Reporting: Provide weekly, monthly, and quarterly updates on stock balances to the Logistics Officer. Conduct regular stock reconciliations and report any obsolete, damaged, or missing items.
• Inventory Control: Conduct periodic physical counts of inventory as per NRC policies and procedures.
• General Support: Assist in promoting technical improvements and sharing ideas within the logistics team. Support coordination with relevant partners and sectors to enhance logistics operations.

Required Qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management or a related field.
• 1-2 years of work experience as a Logistics Assistant or in a similar role.
• Basic experience in a humanitarian or recovery context, particularly in complex and volatile environments.
• Documented results related to the responsibilities of the position.
• Strong communication skills, both vertically and horizontally, within the organization.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management or a related discipline. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of logistics operations and supply chain management in humanitarian contexts.

Experience:
The position requires 1-2 years of relevant work experience as a Logistics Assistant or in a similar role. Candidates should have basic experience working in humanitarian or recovery contexts, particularly in complex and volatile environments. Previous experience in logistics management is highly desirable, as is a proven track record of achieving results related to the responsibilities of the position.

Languages:
Fluency in both oral and written English and Amharic is mandatory. Knowledge of additional local languages is considered an asset, as it can enhance communication with local stakeholders and communities.
