Job Overview: The Logistics Technical Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the Logistics Coordinator in the implementation of the delegated project portfolio. Duties and Responsibilities:
Procurement: Assist in ensuring that all NRC procurements are completed according to procedures and within stipulated timeframes. Ensure compliance with NRC procurement policies, procedures, and lead times.
Fleet Management: Support the Logistics Coordinator in maximizing fleet efficiency through planned resource allocation and maintenance in line with NRC transport guidelines.
Store Management: Handle goods receipts, ensure proper storage, and manage documentation professionally. Maintain accurate records in accordance with finance and logistics procedures. Ensure storage areas are organized and report any issues to the Logistics Officer or Area Manager.
Reporting: Provide weekly, monthly, and quarterly updates on stock balances to the Logistics Officer. Conduct regular stock reconciliations and report any obsolete, damaged, or missing items.
Inventory Control: Conduct periodic physical counts of inventory as per NRC policies and procedures.
General Support: Assist in promoting technical improvements and sharing ideas within the logistics team. Support coordination with relevant partners and sectors to enhance logistics operations.
Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management or a related field.
Basic experience in a humanitarian or recovery context, particularly in complex and volatile environments.
Documented results related to the responsibilities of the position.
Strong communication skills, both vertically and horizontally, within the organization.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management or a related discipline. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of logistics operations and supply chain management in humanitarian contexts.
Experience: The position requires 1-2 years of relevant work experience as a Logistics Assistant or in a similar role. Candidates should have basic experience working in humanitarian or recovery contexts, particularly in complex and volatile environments. Previous experience in logistics management is highly desirable, as is a proven track record of achieving results related to the responsibilities of the position.
Languages: Fluency in both oral and written English and Amharic is mandatory. Knowledge of additional local languages is considered an asset, as it can enhance communication with local stakeholders and communities.
