Job Overview: The coordinator" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">MEAL Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring that Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) systems are effectively integrated into NRC's programs at the Area Office level. This position is responsible for coordinating and strengthening MEAL systems and standards, ensuring that evidence-based decision-making is at the forefront of program implementation. The MEAL Coordinator will provide technical supervision and capacity building to MEAL staff and program teams, ensuring that MEAL tools, plans, and procedures are implemented effectively. This role acts as a bridge between strategic MEAL frameworks established at the Country Office level and their practical application across various projects, ensuring that evidence informs program decision-making, learning, and adaptation. The MEAL Coordinator will also support the development and implementation of MEAL systems, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), guidance, and tools, while contributing to evaluations and learning exercises.
Duties and Responsibilities: The MEAL Coordinator will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including but not limited to: ensuring compliance with NRC policies and MEAL procedures; supporting the development and implementation of MEAL systems and SOPs; coordinating the implementation of MEAL systems at the area level; providing technical support to program teams in assessments and evaluations; contributing to learning exercises and digital MEAL system roll-out; training program and partner staff on data collection tools and methodologies; ensuring evidence from monitoring and evaluations is synthesized for program adaptation; acting as the area-level focal point for MEAL components; providing rapid MEAL support to emergency response interventions; preparing progress reports for management; and carrying out any other relevant tasks as delegated by supervisors.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a minimum of 4 years of experience in MEAL, including at least 2 years in a leadership position at the area or field level with an international NGO, preferably in emergency or post-conflict settings. A strong understanding of MEAL principles and current approaches in relief and development settings is essential, along with skills in data analysis and interpretation. Candidates should have experience with mobile and online data collection systems, data management, and analysis platforms, as well as experience coordinating with UN agencies, INGOs, and local authorities. Technical expertise in program evaluation methodologies and experience in facilitating participatory discussions and capacity-building activities are also required.
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Information Systems Management, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field is required. Candidates without a formal degree but with at least 5 years of relevant experience may also be considered based on organizational needs. A strong educational background is preferred, particularly for candidates with advanced degrees.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 4 years of MEAL experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role at the area or field level within an international NGO. Experience in emergency or post-conflict settings, particularly with Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and in camp or remote management environments, is highly desirable. Familiarity with the political and cultural context of humanitarian responses, particularly in Cox’s Bazar, is also beneficial.
Languages: Fluency in verbal and written English and Bangla is required, while knowledge of Rohingya or local languages is considered an asset. Strong communication skills in both languages are essential for effective collaboration and reporting.
