Job Overview:
The Nutrition Officer Level 1 position at UNICEF involves supporting program development and planning, managing and monitoring program delivery, providing technical and operational support, building partnerships, and fostering innovation and knowledge management. The role requires the officer to research and analyze political, nutritional, social, and economic trends to facilitate design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design and preparation. The officer will also be responsible for preparing technical reports, facilitating program goals and objectives, and ensuring compliance with organizational processes. Additionally, the officer will work collaboratively with colleagues and partners to monitor program implementation, report on resource use, and provide technical support to government counterparts and NGOs. The position emphasizes the importance of building effective partnerships and sharing knowledge to enhance program implementation and capacity building.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support program development and planning by researching and analyzing relevant trends, preparing technical reports, and facilitating the establishment of program goals and strategies.
  • Manage and monitor program delivery by collaborating with colleagues and partners, participating in evaluations, and ensuring compliance with organizational rules and regulations.
  • Provide technical and operational support to program implementation through field visits, stakeholder engagement, and addressing critical issues.
  • Build and sustain partnerships with government counterparts and stakeholders, drafting communication materials for advocacy and resource mobilization.
  • Engage in knowledge management by identifying and sharing lessons learned, applying innovative approaches, and participating in capacity-building initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in nutrition, public health, nutritional epidemiology, global health, or a related field. A minimum of one year of professional experience in nutrition, public health, or related areas is required, with experience in UN agencies considered an asset. Knowledge of nutrition sub-themes, including obesity, is also beneficial. Candidates should demonstrate UNICEF's core values of care, respect, integrity, trust, accountability, and sustainability.

Educational Background:
A university degree in fields such as nutrition, public health, nutritional epidemiology, global/international health and nutrition, health sciences, or other health-related sciences is required for this position. This educational background is essential to understand the complexities of nutrition and health issues that the role will address.

Experience:
The position requires at least one year of professional experience in a developing country, specifically in areas related to nutrition, public health, or maternal and child health. Experience in program development within a UN system agency is advantageous, as is familiarity with emergency contexts and nutrition planning and management.

Languages:
Fluency in English and French is mandatory for this position, as these are the primary languages used in UNICEF's operations. Knowledge of a local language is considered an asset, enhancing communication and engagement with local stakeholders.
